Homemade Power Rack?
Somebody once posted pics of a REALLY sweet Power Rack they'd made at home out of 4x4's. I took a couple of looks around though and couldn't find it again, anybody remember?
Reps if anybody can find it.

If i was gonna make one i'd make it out of squar steel tubing and weld it together to end up with something pretty similar to one you would buy but i guess not everybody has the tools to do that.

Ideally, sure. But 4x4's are more than strong enough.

At least one other person has followed this design.
Edit; Just use the strongest stock you can get the safeties, that's the most important bit.
And it was Joshua B or something like that who had one, think he's got a metal one now though.

For people that are interested in wood based lifting equipment. If you go to Youtube and put the name "Carlos DeJesus" in, you can see items that he has built. He used non-treated lumber.
You can also use search words such as homemade power rack. Wooden weight equipment. Wood power rack, etc. to find other homemade pieces. Also, oftentimes you can see similar videos to the right, which will have other wood built pieces. Many of them are with 2" by material, either by itself, or if needing to carry heavier loads, 2 or more 2" pieces put together.

Actually yes, sandwiched plywood would give some nice additional compressive strength.
