Hook grip on shrugs (not mixed grip)

Anyone ever try hook grip on shrugs? I'm getting tired of using straps, and seeing the potential of hook grip on deads (Layne Norton pulling 690 with a hook grip), I don't see why somebody wouldn't be able to apply this grip towards shrugs as well. I def can't hold onto the weight using double overhand, but what about a hook grip?

I use a hook grip for all pulling work just about. I am used to it now. It is my go to grip. It has actually increased my overhand grip quite a bit since i started using it. I never have a grip problem on deads os shrugs with it.

The only time it really get uncomfortable is if i do something like clean high pulls where the bar is bouncing pretty hard. That kind of tears up the thumbs.
