Simple.... during the Keto period (between 2 carb ups):
Have a PWO shake with some Dextrose and ALA or just a pure Whey?
Would the insuline spike kick me out of Keto completely? Or will this be a temporary thing and actually benefit gains?
Thanks,
Mich

I cannot tell you how your body will respond, however I can tell how mine has. Starting last I began having pre-wo, 1 scoop whey, 1 scope white lightning(no), 5 gms Green magnitude(creatine and 1 tblspoon dextrose/maltodextrin. Post-wo I have 2 scoops whey, 5 gms GM(creatine and 1 tblspn dextrose/maltodextrine. Having been doing keto for 12 weeks without dextrose/malto pre or post last week I had not only lost 1.5 kg but have really leaned out. I think on of my biggest mistakes was not incorporating a sugar. Others will disagree with me, but like I said I can only vouch for what worked for me.
I do have my first shake at 5.30am before anything else, which I may change in the future, but as of now with 3 kids under 4yo that is the only time I can workout. I tested myself a few times last week for keto, showed one positive on Weds. and no positives other days, which I take with a grain of salt seeing as I drink 2 gallons of h2o.Roo, Roo...

Again, all I can do is share what I personally do as far as workout nutrition. I'm sure there are going to be people who post later today saying how ridiculous it is.
I usually have a good sized keto lunch 30 minutes before working out (600-800 calories). Then PWO I have a scoop or two (depending on how my protein intake is shaking out for the day) of whey and approx. 30g of dextrose. Then 3-4 hours later, after work, I do some sort of cardio. for an hour or so. Then I go home and have a keto dinner.
I think I can get away with quite a few more carbs based on the fact that I do pretty large amounts of cardio. The best part is that I haven't seen any performance drop in basketball or cycling, my two main forms of cardio. I wasn't willing to eat so few carbs that these two things activities suffered. It ends up that I can get away with almost 80g of carbs throughout the day before I need to be worried about getting knocked out.
Call me crazy, but I think for highly active people, 5 workouts + 5-6 days of cardio, can get away with way more carbs that 3 workout a weekers."There are no OFF days, just days you don't go to the gym."
Carb-Up does NOT mean Binge and Cheat!

I am the opposite of the other two posting.. I find it very hard to get into Ketosis with my PWO shake. Usually takes me 4 days to get into ketosis.. I got rid of the PWO and now go into Ketosis in on the second day. Myself i didnt need it. Try both and see what works for you
