These clusterfuk of outfielders can only last so long. Remember Nick Green? He was batting like .375 for 6 weeks, then like .180 the rest of the season.
There was 2 people this team could never afford to lose: Pedroia and Youkilis. We lost Pedroia for probably 2 months.
We are literally playing with OF who started the season like 7-11 on the OF depth chart in spring training. And Bill Hall is now playing where Pedroia was.

It really sucks that this is happening now, after the team looked so unbelievable coming from 9 games back to actually leapfrog the Rays. If healthy, IMO, the Sox were set to just completely bury Tampa and make a run at the division crown.
Amazingly enough, I think I'm more optimistic than Dr. Dame (for once) and feel that if the starters can keep doing their thing, the offense should be able to score enough to keep us hanging around til Pedroia returns. Time will tell, though.

Once again, our OF is typically JD Drew and McDonald/Hall/Nava/Cameron.
Eh.
We aren't trading for anyone important.
The Sox need an OF, but we aren't trading for a LF (that's Ellsbury's position) or a RF.
Our 2B went down, and we certainly aren't trading for anyone to replaced Pedey. Also, VMart's injury may only sideline him for a little bit, and we hae Tek to fill in (ugh).
The Sox don't have the bullets to trade for anyone good. Going into the offseason, all trades started with Ellsbury/Buchholz, and neither is getting moved. Our best hitting prospect had brain surgery this spring and our 2nd best pitching prospect just had tommy john.
All that's left of value is our best pitching prospect, and we a'int trading him to fill in a hole in the lineup.

The issue with lackey is that he isn't striking out as many batters as before....thus walking more and giving up more hits. Maybe age is catching up and he isn't as sharp and trying to pitch to contact...maybe he's hiding an injury trying to pitch up to his albatross contract.
3-0 with a 4.4 ERA isn't all that bad....especially considering if Beckett was Beckett, Lackey would be our #4. He's pitching like a 3/4, and that's where he should be in our rotation. That being said, he's being paid like a top pitcher in the league, which he certainly isn't....

i dont know why people are ****ting on the lineup, they are so good that they can still beat down the rays without pedroia and vmart. the team is a RBI machine
if they get the starting 5 of lester, buch, beckett, lackey and dice K clicking on cylinders the team will be almost unbeatableTom Brady wishes he was half as talented and a quarter as good looking as Aaron Rodgers.

Yea, we really shoul've listened to you the whole season as you reminded us this isn't the year for the Sox.
Teams who've scored more runs than the Sox:
(clearly, offense is our problem)
Teams with a better record than the Sox: Yankees
We've also played the hardest schedule in baseball and are missing 66% of our OF and Josh Beckett.
The season is half over, we have the 2nd best record in baseball and the best offense.
