    Macronutrients and bedtime

Eating something before bedtime seems to be typical. I have read through many posts on what people are eating. But, these have all seemed to be specific about the food that is eaten and not so much the reason.

Which macronutrients are best to ingest before bed and why? I am 46 and recovery is more important now. A good nights sleep is important.

    TIA,
    FromNowOn

It doesn't matter, just hit you goals for that day. I'll have Cottage cheese and fruit sometimes, An almond butter sandwich others, sometimes I eat nothing at all.. Whatever I need to meet my caloric and macronutrient goals I'll eat.

I like to drink milk before i sleep. The protein content in milk is mostly casein which digests slowly and feeds your body over a long period of time (i also remember reading that the sugars found in milk also digest slowly, but not too sure about this)

Typically most people will eat something with casein and/or fats for the 'stereotype' surrounding that type of protein - that and both are more satiating than (most) other foods and helps people fall asleep easier.

Don't over analyze, just hit your daily macronutrient goal and eat when it suits you. Plan your meals around your lifestyle, not vice versa
