He didn't really answer the question.
I would have said something along the lines of:
If I am wrong then I will burn in hell. I'm willing to take that risk though as there is no evidence of there being a hell and I think it foolish to worry myself over something that might exist. Then continue on in the way that he did.MMMC

im agnostic , but odds are there isnt a god.. at least not one described in a holy book. god woulldnt have a sex. also there are so many religions that even if you were right about there being a god...its still highly unlikely to pick the correct religion..

what you meaning? seems like a weird argument.
(1) If there is meaning in life then god has to exist.
(2) There is.
(3) So it does.
why can't we argue
(1) If there is meaning in life then god can't exist.
(2) There is.
(3) So it doesn't.
the first argument is like "but if there is meaning, something had to put it there! and that has to be god!" the first part of the inference is maybe ok, but the second one is dubious.
the second argument builds on this, it's like "ok if there is meaning something put it there, sure, but it seems like there is no absolute value / meaning. interpretation by subjects plays at least some part, so while physical things exist in some absolute, objective sense, meaning does not and is intimately tied up with subjects. no need for god here at all, to the contrary, this is quite opposite of any god existing."
