He didn't really answer the question.

I would have said something along the lines of:
If I am wrong then I will burn in hell. I'm willing to take that risk though as there is no evidence of there being a hell and I think it foolish to worry myself over something that might exist. Then continue on in the way that he did.

what you meaning? seems like a weird argument.

    (1) If there is meaning in life then god has to exist.
    (2) There is.
    (3) So it does.

    why can't we argue

    (1) If there is meaning in life then god can't exist.
    (2) There is.
    (3) So it doesn't.

the first argument is like "but if there is meaning, something had to put it there! and that has to be god!" the first part of the inference is maybe ok, but the second one is dubious.

the second argument builds on this, it's like "ok if there is meaning something put it there, sure, but it seems like there is no absolute value / meaning. interpretation by subjects plays at least some part, so while physical things exist in some absolute, objective sense, meaning does not and is intimately tied up with subjects. no need for god here at all, to the contrary, this is quite opposite of any god existing."

If we're wrong and live a good life it would only make sense that we get into your heaven anyway. Why do we need to spend our lives bowing down to a being we were only told about by other humans?

This is exactly it. You live your life to the fullest, loving your friends and family. I dont care if there is or isnt something if i die.

    I live here and now.

Lol, this. Wtf do you mean too much meaning in life? As far as anyone knows, we contribute nothing to the universe and are simply a glitch.

    too much meaning?

i'm sorry, but do you have any idea how ****ing insignificant we are?

in the grand scheme of things comparing our entire planet to a single grain of sand on a beach would be grossly overstating it's relative size and significance to the rest of the universe
