Am I overtraining?
Hi,
I recently started university and I find myself doing a lot more activities than I used to. I swim MWF in the morning for about 30mins, have rowing practice for 1h30m, Starting Strength workout, and I play flag football. Should I continue doing what I'm doing or should I cut something out or possibly add something. My goal is to stay between 160 and 165. Thanks
My diet:
4 eggs & an english muffin
2-3 cheese quesadilla's
Chicken or shrimp pasta for lunch
fish quesadilla's or pasta
fish with bread or rice
pasta or quesadilla
I drink plenty of water and sports drink during the day.

You'll want to eat more, and better. You will know if you are overtraining. It happens TO you, it's not something we could diagnose through a list of your activities.

Over-training doesn't happen overnight.
It also is way too overhyped.
The more you work everyday, the closer will come a mandatory rest week. For me personally, I'd burn out on that level of activity in about a month and have to take a week off of all physical activity and then I'd be back again.

Update:
I've been keepingg this schedule for about 2 months now and there isn't a day where my body isn't sore. I've cut out swimming and added running on Saturdays (4-6mi). I've been gaining about 1/5 lb per week bodyweight and my lifts all are going up. My only problem is that I'm so sore all the time, especially my legs and my lower back. Thankfully I'm going to take next week off from lifting, rowing, and running.
An additional question:
After my run this Saturday I noticed that the lower part of my calf muscles were tensed up. They stayed this way till this (Monday) morning. Is this okay or am I doing something wrong?

Most people will never experience true overtraining. Just saying.

Personally, I think that if you're in pain all the time, you need to ramp some things back. You should have some days where you are not experiencing pain or soreness. That said, congratulations on the strength and bodyweight gains so far.

I know when Im overtraining... or better yet overreaching... when I'm freaking TIRED throughout the day, especially towards the end of the day.... and then have a very hard time getting good sleep. Not getting good sleep is to me the best indicator of this. It's a weird feeling... you feel distressed throughout the night and a bodily discomfort... no matter where you turn you're not comfortable... and you feel the discomfort especially in your back
Anyone else experienced it this way?
