How about them Twins?
Who'd thought? I never thought I'd see the Twins hold out so long into this season and then come back at the very, very end to win the division! I think they won 17 of their last 21 games and 3 of their last 4 to force a tie breaker game and end up winning Detroit in an exhausting 12 inning game.
I was a Tiger fan for many years rooting for them when they came to town but hardly seeing them beyond that so in the last two years I converted to being a Twin's fan since I now lived in Minnesota for 20 years. I guess it was a good time to make that switch!
(However I will NOT become a Viking fan, being a life long Packer fan... yes, the Monday night game was hard to watch...)

I'm not a current day fan of any sports team, but I'm going to guess that you may have appreciated the Twins back when I did....around 68' or 69'...when they had Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva and Rod Carew? Now, those were some players!
Oh, and even though I was a Red Sox fan (I grew up there ), I liked the Tigers too (Al Kaline (sp)) etc..

Congrats to the Twins... and onward toward their ultimate slaughter!
They lost the division last year in a one game playoff. The odds of going 162 games and ending up tied, then finding yourself tied after 9, 10, and 11 innings of the tie breaker game! It is amazing how equally average both teams are!
Oh, and MM, how 'bout that Brett Favre guy?

I am a diehard Angels fan... Grew up with season tickets and I still drive out to Cali. to go to the games every chance I get. My sister kept the tickets and I am going back to see some of the series against the Bo. Sox.
I was watching the Twins vs. Tigers game with my folks, who are visiting right now, and my Mother goes crazy about baseball. She was routing for the Twins so hard and was screaming at the top of her lungs when the last run was scored. She loves the story and comeback. The best thing is she couldn't tell you one name of any of the players on the Twins. But, she could tell you individual stats from the Angels. Even from teams past. She scares me that way.

Funny you should mention those two teams... I think it was the Red Sox I saw playing the Twins in the 60's, where the Mall of America(s) is now? Killibrew and Yasztremski in one game, if I recall.
Who knows for sure- I'm a Cubs fan!

Carl Zastrzemski lived just a few houses down from my uncle in Lynnfield, MA. He had a scaled replica of the Green Monster in his back yard. Before Bobby Orr was really famous, he lived just up the street from me as a kid. Of course, when he got more money he moved the hell out . Other Bruins lived in my general neighborhood area too. The mid-late 60's and early 70's were a great time to grow up in Boston if you liked sports; the Bruins were Stanley Cup champs, Red Sox were Pennant winners, Celtics were always champs. The only thing we didn't have was a great football team back then . But yeah, the ball players back then on many teams seemed larger than life.

Right now, Twins leading Yanks 2-0 in Game 1 of the playoffs.
I am very displeased...

Congrats to the twins, but I can't see how anybody can switch teams because they moved to another city. Loyalty baby. Ask me how I know. I'm a Browns fan.
I would still be a Browns fan if I moved to Egypt.
To each their own.
