I wasn't sure if I should post this in the nutrition section or the training section, but is bulking and cutting a continuous cycle? My understanding is that once you are done bulking, you then cut. But what happens after that so that you don't lose the muscle you gained?

Muscle loss happens in the way that you cut. If you try to cut too quickly then you lose muscle mass with any other weight you lose. Best advice is to do neither too quickly. When in a "bulk" mode, eat only slightly over your daily burn and when in cut mode only slightly under. That gives best results over the long run. And yeah... you do this until you are happy with your body.
