Finally setting up a home gym!
Since moving away from my favourite commercial gym, I haven't found a gym I'm comfortable with that's close enough to commit to. So I've bite the bullet to set up at home.
Currently thanks to Craigslist and Fitness Depot I've got - 200lbs of weights, adjustable bench w/ leg extension, adjustable dumbbells/barbell, lat machine, pull-up bar, skipping rope & stability ball. I still want to get a new treadmill [winter here = ], power rack, a few medicine balls and possibly a leg press.
I have a bit of a budget to play with and decided that any visiting guests will have to sleep in the livingroom as I've converted my guest room into my home gym. Good thing I rarely get guests!
How many of you ladies work out at home? What else do you recommend?
I'm use to working out 5-6 days a week [have been for a year now] so I'm not concerned about how often it'll get used. So I'm very happy with my recent purchases. I currently run or bike outside, but with winter almost here, that won't last long. We get covered with ice and snow and I don't want to increase the risk of injury. I'm thinking a treadmill would be my best bet? I'd love a row machine, but I think I should hold off?
Eek! So excited!

Congrats on all your new stuff!! Getting all the fitness stuff at home is exciting b/c you can do it whenever! It is sometimes hard for me to make it to the gym b/c I have my daughter, but with stuff at home I can work out with her there. In fact, she works out with me! lol I have a Weider Cage, Treadmill, Power Tower, and a vast assortment of weights (600lbs worth) and bars, etc etc. It seems to do me good. I love our Cage deal. We got it for about $500 from MC Sports. I'll attach a picture of it. I would like a stationary bike though. I still have my gym membership b/c sometimes I just need to get away..ya know?

Woah, that's a great piece of equipment! I need to keep hunting for good deals and make my gym grow into something I won't mind showing off.
I do day drop-in's at this crossfit studio when I feel like getting out in public and busting a sweat. I miss my old gym, but nothing else around here seems to live up to it, hah. For the last month I've been using the one gym that's close enough and is pretty good, I guess. It's got the equipment, but it just has **** hours and a gross meat market vibe.
But I'm really digging the occasional (1-2 x a week) crossfit workouts when not working out in the gym. I plan to still hit the studio weekly on top of using my home gym. The best part? No commitment!

We're getting our home gym together, too. So nice to just have to run to the basement for a workout and not have to deal with people.
Two pieces of equipment I would sugges would be ones that you already listed as stuff you want: a leg press/hacksquat machine and a squat rack/power cage of some kind.
With those and the equipment you already own, you should have most (if not all) your bases covered.

I work out at home and love it. Especially with three young boys. The gym is always open, free day care and it takes me 7 seconds to get there.
Here's a little article on starting a home gym...

Scroll down to the bottom of the main forum page, right below the misc, and there's an equipment forum made up of primarily home lifters. Everybody there is very friendly and mature and you should get some great advice. I post there quite a bit.

I workout at home too. You should get a kettlebell. Good workout! And within two weeks of using it (3x a week) I can see my legs getting more defined.. I mean, muscle built. It's sweet
