Not that I'd ever bank on him going scoreless but it should come as no surprise that NYJ has a good defense...

Saints have played some pretty good defenses these last two weeks. Saints are such a complete team this year that all he has had to do is play smart football (no ints, fumbles) while riding the running game and defense to the W.

Anyone who's ever had Brees for a full year will tell you game in and game out he's not going to be giving you solid points on a week by week basis.
He will however give you some HUGE games.
This is why I didn't buy the Brees hype. I'm sure his stat line for the season will look great, but in the fantasy realm I'll take Rivers who's worst game thus far still banked me 15+ fantasy points over Brees who can go weeks without reaching double digits.

Brees doesn't have to throw the ball for 39483948 yards a game when he can rely on the run game, and defense to help him get the job done, so why would he not just try to play sensible football, and not turn the ball over?

Last season for example:
Week 2 vs Skins: 216 yds 1 TD 2 INTs (my league scoring 9.2 pts)
Week 7 vs Panthers: 231 yds 0 TD 1 INT (scoring 5.2 pts)
Week 11 vs Chiefs: 266 yds 1 TD 1 INT (scoring 12.8 pts)
Week 15 vs Bears: 232 yds 2 TD 2 INT (scoring 15.7 pts) *First Round of Playoffs
Now 2008 was actually a very good season for Brees overall. His lowest yard total came in week 2 at 216. And he only had 1 game without a TD vs the Panthers in week 7. He did however have a total of 7 games where he threw for the same number of INTs or more INTs than TDs though.
But I'm talking Brees as a whole QB, not just last year...cause I had him as a early pick in 2007.
Week 1 vs Colts: 192 yds 0 TD 2 INTs 1 FL
Week 3 vs Titans: 225 yds 0 TD 4 INTs 1 FL
Week 5 vs Panthers: 252 yds 0 TD 2 INT
Week 7 vs Falcons: 219 yds 2 TD 1 INT
Week 16 vs Eagles: 284 yds 0 TD 1 INT (2nd round of playoffs)
I mean he is a solid fantasy QB, but don't expect 30+ pts weekly. In 2007 he had 4 games where he didn't score a TD. And 7 with as many INTs or more INTs than touchdowns.
For comparison Peyton in those years:
2008: 2 games with 0 TDs and only 5 games with as many INTs or more INTs than TDs his worse week was week 17 (championship playoff game ) and that's cause they rested him. He had 95 yds and a TD
2007: 2 games with 0 TDs (one in the last week when he was rested for playoffs) and only 1 game where he threw for more than 1 INT.

If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that Brees would get me 4 pts and 7 pts the last 2 games and I would still get a win both weeks, I wouldnt have believed you. Now I didnt blow anybody out, but I got the W! 3-1

Damn so all you guys going to DROP Brees now because of two games?
I have him too but not upset about why he's not putting up mega points. Fortunately my RB's, TE & DST have been playing solid for me the past couple of weeks.
Anyway when it comes to Brees I'm willing to roll with the punches. He'll be tearing it up again very soon.

Brees has finally gotten a supporting cast, yes he can still throw for 900 yards a game and 14 TD's (joke) but when it comes down too it. This game is about winning football games, and he is learning to adopt that role and savor himselves for later games very well as of lately.

Brees is frustrating me too but i'm being patient. He was still a great pick for me considering I got him with the last pick in the 2nd round.
still put up my highest point total of the year this week thanks to

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not planning on dropping Brees anytime soon, and any week he's available he's getting the start.
I'm just frustrated because after a rough 5 point week, I was expecting him to get 1 touchdown and atleast break into double digits (reasonable expectations for a Top Tier QB) and instead he puts up a fat 7 points.
I know he's playing good defenses.
I know they are starting to use the run game.
But from a fantasy owner's prospective, I'm mad.
He is known for putting up 300+ yard multiple touchdown games, and he has not been doing that lately... and unlike my fellow Bree's owners, I have lost both of the games in which he's sucked it up from a fantasy prospective.
Thank god for the bye week is all I have to say, hopefully Garrard can pull in 8 points and I will STOKED
