Unsupportive Family
Hey guys, I started to weight train and exercise daily about 2 months ago, i perform 30mins to 1hr weight training and 30 mins cardio daily.
My previous physique was at 23% bodyfat and weighed 160lbs standing at 5ft 6" which my family described me as podgy with man boobs and love handles and used to poke fun at me with those statements, to which some extent i agreed that yes i was overweight, so i decided to make a change and joined the gym!
Since then I have lost 10lbs (over 2months) and am now 150lbs and am continuing to workout to keep up the weight loss, i am now also at a 19% bodyfat. I am much stronger and leaner now and have a fantastic cardio endurance level and personally feel i am in the best shape of my life! I am very happy with the progress I have made but would say im incredibly far from where I want to be still.
An issue has cropped up whereby, my family are now describing me as "weedy", "gaunt", "grey" and have also been mocked being called a "pinhead" quite often by a different family member. I was expecting my family to compliment me on my more lean physique and the fact I am trying to make a positive difference to my body by eating healthily and exercising regularly. I would describe these particular family members as being considerably overweight (30%bf) and unhealthy, however I am being told that I am the one that is looking unhealthy, which i find completely ironic :-|
The negative comments from family members is affecting my motivation levels and reducing my will to work out as I am thinking how can so many people say that i'm looking unhealthy, they must be right.. unless they are just jealous? but why would my own family be jealous? They are also questioning my intake of protein as i have 3 whey protein shakes per day (75grams protein total) and eat 2 breaded chicken breasts (30 grams protein total) which is probably less protein than i should be eating anyways.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Anyone have any ideas how i can convince my family to be more supportive? Should I just ignore them and carry on doing what i do!??! Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A lot of our parents' are against what we're doing.
Personally, it just motivates me to work harder and prove them wrong.

Op at least they cant stop you from training. My mom doesnt support me lifting and she doesnt let me lift anything above my bw, so I hide my 45's and lift when she's asleep (tonight is shoulders).
Anyways, just use your parents as motivation. Your 23, dont let them get to you.

I kind of get the sense that my family doesn't support how much I work out, but they are too nice to say anything. I will never give it up. It keeps me sane, relieves stress, and makes me feel good about myself. Like others have said; You are 23 years old, do what you want.

im in the same boat lol.
dad says hes supportive, then he says stop going heavy or i will take the gym away. (wtf?), mum is totally against it, they both say things like "why have you still got fat on" etc even though they're fat and lazy ( again wtf ).
but meh, fuck them, let them think what they want while you get bigger/stronger/or leaner and they stay the same or get worse.
