I've been doing this:
2 laps normal pace
1 lap high intensity
How long/many laps should I be doing this for? I went for about 40mins yesterday
Also, how can I find out how many calories i'm burning?

I don't know that you can do HIIT with swimming. I love swimming, don't get me wrong (I have a 20m lap pool in my house) but the kind of physical exertion required to get the benefit of anerobic interval training and swimming just don't mix.
How many calories you burn depends on the effort. Depending what source you consult, vigrous swimming burns off 500-700 calories per hour so your 40 minutes would be 2/3 of that.May 31 WT: 227.6 BF%: 33.2%
June 28 WT: 216.2 BF%: 32.0%
July 26 WT: 207.6 BF%: 30.2%
Aug 30 WT: 199.8 BF%: 28.7%
Goal WT: 155 BF%: 10.0%
