Are out of state students more likely to get accepted
would i be more susceptible to be accepted due to the high tuition that out of state usually has to pay, even if my gpa is right on the dot or a little bit above?

Nope. In fact, it's supposed to be hard to get in. The taxes your parents pay is supposed to be part of the tuition that they take off.

I think so.
I go to a CC and just got accepted to a university in Ohio and Kansas (Out of state) and I only have a 2.28 GPA and 24 credits (lol).
I think with the recession and what not, universities are needing money.

OOS students will always have to meet higher standards to be accepted. regardless of tuition you are paying.

hrmmm, it seems to me that a university would be feigning for your money if you were out of state. that's just my 2 cents though

I think this depends on the school. In my experience at Arizona the school loved us out-of-staters.

Yea, I think some of it has to do with what states are hurting in education budget etc.
I know it's alot harder to get accepted/transfer to a college in california due to everyone and their mother wanting to get into one.

ok i understand the higher standards part for sure. but if you were a university and not many out of state students were applying, if you were admissions wouldn't you want to accept a person out of state?( to up the ante per se)

well what i was thinking is that since california is hurting for their budget, wouldn't a person like me be more susceptible to be accepted(reccesion status?)

it's possible, but I know schools in california down south such as UCLA, USC, SDSU are VERY picky because everyone wants nice weather lol. It sucks but thats life I guess.

It depends on the school and state and whether its public or private. California schools are notorious for keeping out out-of-state students. Other states it varies greatly from school to school. I believe the University of Illinois just relieved its top administrators because they were actually favoring out-of-state students and increasing the difficulty for in-state students to get accepted, which goes against what public state schools were originally started for.

imo, its easier to get into OOS schools that ARENT cali. everyone wants to come to cali for college, and every school here is so impacted that priority is always given to california students(duh we live here) so OOS students have to pay a ridiculous amount plus the requirements are retarded high for our schools.
Transferring out of state from cali is a lot easier for us because no other state is as populated as ours...they want students, we still pay higher tuition for being out of state but its way easier for california residents transferring out, than outside students transferring in.
