Still More stuff I've learned on BB.com
Just a few more nuggets I've picked up from the forums on BB.com:
* If a guy lifts less than me, I need to criticize and belittle his efforts.
* If a guy lifts more than me, I must find fault with his exercise form.
* If i post lk i inst msg,it lks kul. No one can understand my post, but that
just makes me "cooler."
* If I'm under the age of 17, I must post a "rate my routine" thread containing at
least 3 training days with "bicepts" on them.
* If I'm under the age of 16, I must post a "rate my routine" thread containing at
least 5 training days with "bicepts" on them.
* Okay, here's the deal; I've been "lifting" for 2 months now, and have made ZERO progress,
but N@tural1's and All Pro's "beginner's" programs are for "beginners." I need a 6 way,
double split; I've been "lifting" for 2 months now.
* If an experienced bodybuilder, with 20 years' training under his belt, and the avatar
to back it up, replies to my thread, I'll demand "studies" from him to prove the
validity of his advice.
* If an experienced bodybuilder, with 20 years' training under his belt, and the avatar
to back it up, gives me advice, I'll argue with him, because I've done some reading this
last 6 months, and I have knowledge.
* If I'm a powerlifter, I'm qualified to give advice to bodybuilders.
* If I'm a bodybuilder, I'm qualified to give advice to powerlifters.
* If I "used to play some football", 20 years ago in High School, but can't work out now,
because I "hurt my back", I'm qualified to give advice to both of the above groups, as
well as to strongman competitors.
* The supplement ads in the muscle mags are the Holy Grail of bodybuilding information.
* The training articles in the muscle mags are the Holy Grail of bodybuilding information.
* Every new poster in the O35 "has been 'working out' for 20 years," but still has to
ask what's the best exercise for chest. Or biceps (at least they usually spell it
correctly, though).
* Eating too much chicken will give you gyno.
* If I work out for two weeks, and then take the next two weeks off, I shouldn't expect
to lose any muscle.

Should protein shakes be mixed with milk or water?
Never mix protein shakes with milk, unless you dont have casein protein...
Milk contains different type of protein than whey protein so they counteract with each other and are digested at different times. Some protein would not get into your system and the rest would need few good hours to be digested.

I'm sure there are plenty more. This list is in no way all-inclusive!

Ironwill,
COOL STORY BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I mean it!!
Other stuff I'VE learned:
---If anyone makes great gains then it must be either drugs or good genes; whatever happened to working hard?
---I'm a newbie but I've read all the magazines so I'm qualified to give advice to someone who is not only older but also has a better physique than I do.
---I have a good physique, better than most, so I feel qualified to give advice to everyone...never mind if they're powerlifters or Olympic lifters; I know it all!
---You MUST do a split if you've been on full-body for six months or more; conversely, you must do full-body if you've been on a split for some time and haven't made any gains.
---You must do benches and squats and deadlifts. Great exercises, BTW; you don't HAVE to do any exercise if you don't feel it or if it does nothing for you or if it causes you pain. Too many people have been ruined by this kind of thinking and yes, I BE SERIOUS ON THIS!!
---Use Sel-Tek for the greatest gains. (Serious on this, too).
P.S. "Must spread some reputation around before giving it to Ironwill again."

-- While I know that experts such as Bill Starr and Mark Rippetoe studying/coaching/competing/writing books and articles for 30-40+ years, Im 16 years old and Im special and different and need to challenge the advice of said experts.
-- Im 120lbs and want to be a bodybuilder, I want to put on some serious mass for lean gains, but Im scared of losing my 6 pack.
-- I just did a 12 cycle of xyz supplement and put on 3lbs, I completely attribute these gains to xyz and would not have put on 3lbs anyway in 12 weeks.

* If I play soccer, that's good enough workout for legs. All I need is dem bicepts
* I warm up on treadmill for 5 minutes; In addition, I walk 10-15 minutes during my job. Any more cardio, and I will lose muscle

you make it sound like you haven't learned anything good from these forums
that's insulting to all the people who actually try to help people...

Let's not forget the most important lessons:
- Doing more volume than Mark Rippetoe has given his blessing to will immediately result in overtraining.
- Rippetoe's program is appropriate for everyone written regardless of experience, goals, and body mechanics
- Arnold knew nothing about bodybuilding and listening to any advice in his books will result in immediate overtraining
- Mentzer was a loon that liked to direct traffic naked, predict the end of world, proclaim Arthur Jones a god, and drink his own urine; he can't possibly have anything of value to teach us about bodybuilding
- Calories come in two versions "clean" and dirty". Eating dirty calories will break your metabolisms.
