Not a very simple answer. Since were all teens here, it depends on our body weight/body fat percentage. I'd' aim to say anyone above 12% body fat or so should probabbly do some cardio, exspecially druing his or her teen years. After all, whats mass without definiton? However, someone with 8% body fat for example, Id say is doing very well, unless your fully grown, then thats amazing. Anyways, my point is once youve reached a BF like that, it depends on two factors. Your metabolism, and your goals. If your goal is to transform into a massive beefcake with a fair amount of muscle, then too much cardio will begin to burn off muscle, and youll have to eat nearly double to simply keep on the muscle, let alone gain any. On the other hand, if you play sports and rely on coordination and stamina, cardio is going to play a huge role for you. Overall, if your going to do cardio I'd' personally recommend swimming, why? Yes, its cardio, and too much of it might start to burn muscle, but at the same time, swimming works every muscle in the body. And given enough practice, swimming can massively broaden and define your shoulders and back, giving you a wide body. Youll just have to eat up like crazy to keep on the mass.
