So does America have the best educational system in the world?
I'm pretty sure we have the most Nobel Laureates in the world. MIT/Harvard/Caltech/Ivy Leagues etc. UK only has Oxford/Cambridge. Any opinions on this matter?

yes.
we just have a different educational model than other countries so our averages get skewed. In some countries, there is no "highschool" and low intelligence students are put in vocational programs and apprenticships. here, however, we educate EVERYONE from k-12 which means you get our brightest, and the poor, special needs and immigrant students which sometimes are unable to even speak english.
Just look to our universities if you need more proof. Best in the world. Americans don't just all of a sudden get more intelligent at the college level.

My problem with American education is the push for every student to attend college. Some people are just not college material and high schools should really focus on trade schools or apprenticeships for some kids.

I homeschooled but yeah, I think so. I know someone who graduated HS with a crapload of college credits (he went to some badass boarding school though). Basically he was taking college level classes when he was in HS.
And I know guys who took a GED route and ended up with classes to get started in different things manual labor wise. (Carpentry, machinist, welding, etc.)
