    how many calories should i be eating

    I believe he means "the rest" but yeah, it's pretty easy for diet. To lose weigh make a deficit, to gain weight make a surplus; about 300-500 calories in either case. Simple as that

    Muscles are made up of more than just protein.. It's a major component but they need fat and carbs as well

    of course your body needs carbs and fats for fuel, but the only thing your muscles use to grow is protein, Protein is the main macronutrient needed to provide muscle-building amino acids to your body.
