As real as it gets
UFC Welterweight Division ??? What going on ?
Noticed Jon Fitch is rumored to fight Ricardo Almeida at UFC 106. What the hell is going on in the welterweight division?
How can Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch not have a fight EVER? Doesn't this fight make sense?
Also shouldn't Jon Fitch be fighting Mike Swick or Kampman for a title shot? He has won his last two fights after his loss for the belt against GSP.

Fitch, Swick, and Koscheck are in the same team. Really doubt they want to fight each other.

Not sure if serious...
AKA is making a mess of the WW division. I still can't believe Swick decided to drop into a division where two of his teammates are contenders after one loss.

The WW was screwed when the top contender got his ass kicked by someone not even in title talk. I love Daley, but the UFC can't give him a shot anytime soon. The vision of him getting his ass subbed is still fresh in everyone's mind.

That doesn't mean they won't. Especially given that the fight was on network TV, surprisingly few people outside the hardcore fans know about his loss to Shields.

I agree. If two fighters are in the same division what are they suppose to do stay number 1 and number 2 forever?
If your the number 1 contender and your mate's has the belt, IF you were really teamates you WOULD fight. This is the ultimate respect.
on the other hand in a situation like Anderson Silva and Machida the option is valid.

It's not really any different (in my opinion) from two guys playing on opposing teams in the NFL when they were on the same team in college or roommies, etc...
If MMA is really what the people truly claim it to be, a test of skill, and NOT just thuggery I don't see why there is a problem. You can have a huge amount of respect for someone and still fight them.
Especially considering that we're talking about the most elite level of the sport. Would I want to fight my buddy in a local show for $500? No. But you're in the big leagues, if you don't want to be a champion get out of the ring/cage/whatever.

MMA is a completely different sport than football. You are literally punching and kicking eachother in the head. As much as we want to legitamize the sport, the fact that you are attempting to beat the other person up will never go away. If I'm not only your training partner but also a friend, I wouldn't want to break your arm or potentially give you brain damage. If its someone I don't know, while I may not proactively WANT that, I will do whatever it takes to win and if that happens so be it. If its a friend, there is a certain line I wouldn't want to cross.
I think you need to stop looking at it from a fans perspective and try and put yourself in their position. Yeah sure I'd want to see Koscheck vs Fitch, but I could understand if they didn't want to fight eachother.

I definitely see both sides of the coin, and you have legit points, but like I said before, this is the most elite level. As others have said prior, if you're teammate is champion in the division, are you just going to concede that you can't be champ?

You change camps. Thats my point, its all or nothing. Either you are on the same team and don't fight, or someone leaves. I mean really, how could you train with a guy that you brutally head kicked to steal his belt? I mean...really?

Like the guy up there said i doubt daley will get it because his loss to shields although shields is a great fighter. Kos,Swick and Fitch are hurting the division a bit. If anything i say give the shot to Swick he is the only one GSP hasn't beatin yet out of those 3. Or have swick fight daley and winner gets the shot

you gotta think about it this way...
It's not just the fighters, it's the whole camp that it effects...
Who trains with who?? Who do the coaches train?? Who corners who?
It potentially has the ability to f*ck up the chemistry of the whole team forever if you fight each other...
It's not just about the belt, you make each other better everyday, how do you then turn around and fight each other, and ask your team to choose sides?

If they don't want to fight against their teammates, then don't join the same weight division because anyone with common sense and a little bit of talent would know eventually that they may cross paths. I mean, do they honestly want to win the belt from someone, lose it to another person, then have their teammate beat that guy for the belt in order to avoid fighting? Worst reasoning ever.
And you spar and roll with each other in practice and still have respect for each other and its all to better each other, so you should be able to in the cage. I agree that it would mess up their training team, but come on, MMA is not a team sport, so eventually you guys are going to have to play against each other.

Throw enough money down, they'll fight. Especially Kos. He said in the past a big reason he fights is for the money and competitive drive.
