It gets discouraging sometimes when trying to add weight on arm exercises, these long arms make me work harder.

Who else has a hard time finding shirts that are long enough and not baggy. It seems big and tall stores emphasis the BIG part.

These are some true facts sir just put down $60 on some under armor shorts. Don't fit. Too long and make me look tiny

6'7" here...former basketball, football player and pro wrestler. Would love to bodybuild but I don't want to weight 450 just to get noticed. Rolph Moeller is one of my idols and he had to give it up.

The new standard difference between L and XL thanks to the lazy-ass American population is width, no addition in size whatsoever.

Ralph Lauren polos are extra long, slim through the midsection and have sleeves big enough not to cut off circulation to your hands. but, you pay for it...

I swear tall bodybuilders look like absolute beasts compared to short stocky guys.

Agreed shirts/t-shirts, I sometimes feel that the way you dress is almost as important as working out to actually showing off your optimal physique if you know what im saying

Not "work" attire, but Large Nike Dri-fit's are perfect for me. Plus they don't shrink. I have one Nike Medium/Tall college football shirt that is my absolute favorite gym shirt. Old navy Large tee's and polos fit me pretty well too, and my size is pretty even among my whole body. Not freakishly long legs with a short torso or anything.

being tall can be a pain in the ass. I hit my head on more crap...

as for work outs that don't kill your back doing squats. I don't use a free bar. I use a hack squat machine that is back supported. for those of you who need it find a gym with a lay down machine. the one at our gym is an old chunk of iron but it works well. I still do ten plates at age 50. I have had compressed vertibre and ruptured discs and I'm still going. almost 2" shorter then I was in high school ( gravity sucks!)

dumbbell snatches from floor to sky one armed is a good torso builder and great for shoulders. http://danjohn.net/2009/12/one-arm-lifts/

as for clothes good luck. I find good deals at TJmax and Burlington coat factory. shoes can be had at www.bigshoes.com or www.zappos.com right now I have a nice pair of size 16 redwing boots with steel toes. they fit well and support my bad feet. makes life bearable. oh yeah the other places for shoes if you have one is Dunhams sports or mc sports. they have a annual big shoe sale where they clear out old stock. one year I bought 13 pair of shoes for $20 each

Speaking out against squats, in some parts is like speaking glowingly about Hitler.

I am 28, and have been squatting for 3 years. And I agree with you about squats not being the best exercise for us tall people. I find it better to do partial reps on the squat, lighter weights.

Deadlift I can go all out.

I have been doing more of the seated arm press stuff on the machine. I can do 6 plates and it doesn't kill my back because it gives me time to adjust my posture. if I was throwing up a bar it would get me out of position easy and make me work on balance more then lifting. as is I don't try and kill myself with huge weight often. I can do a crap ton on leg press but with the replacement knee I have to limit how often I max it out. I have done 28 plates for 5 reps and its a hell of a strain on my quads.

I am 28, and have been squatting for 3 years. And I agree with you about squats not being the best exercise for us tall people. I find it better to do partial reps on the squat, lighter weights.

Deadlift I can go all out.
I'm completely the opposite. I squat 335lb now with no problem. It's not a full rep(like 75%), but it's enough to get the job done. I full rep 225 (ass to grass) with no problem, but when it comes to dead lift, my heaviest is 305, and that's with my hooks. I think the grip strength isn't there, and I've recently started getting Golfers Elbow, so that's not going to help that out, at all.

We know the feeling, man. Long muscles, bigger frame = more work to fill yourself out. It's irritating to see shorter guys bulk up in "no time", but when they hit their max, you can keep on going. You just have to patient and worry more about the strength than the size.

I started back at the gym last December but then had to lay off for shoulder surgery. so in roughly 6 months of in gym time I have 18" arms again. if you look at anyone tall it doesn't look like a big arm till you get it next to a real small one
