If I was an oly lifter, the Pendlay.

If I was a powerlifter the Texas.

If I was a bodybuilder or just for general weight training, I'd flip a coin!? Unless you're snatching/clean and jerking the only big difference most will really notice will be the knurling.

well I think I may end up getting both I guess, keep the tpb in the rack for squats and bench, and then get the pendlay for the garage for deads and oly's.

where would you buy the tpb at? there seems to be alot of places on the net with different prices, but not all of them say its the troy bar.

Why not just buy one high end bar, rather than 2 mid range ones?

By the way, which Pendlay are you looking at, there are 4 or 5 different Pendlay bars?

The reason I was looking at two is because im still in an apartment and I have a squat rack in an extra bed room, and I cant do deads or oly's in there, so I would do them in the garage. I was looking at the Pendlay HD NexGen 20kg Olympic Bar

Fair enough I guess. If the nexgen is as good as it's predecessor then it'll be a good bar.

ya it says 10/10/09, the price differences for the tpb are crazy, they vary anywhere from 199 to 330 from elite fitness

I don't see any TPB on their site for less than $325. As far as I'm concerned, the only two TPBs are made by Troy and Capp, and I really don't see the difference between them to justify a $325 Troy over the $215 Capp at WWFitness.

I have a TPB and a Pendlay Econ bar and I like the TPB way better. The knurling is awesome. I don't do many Oly lifts though.

I would by a TBP just because it is IPF approved. But if don't plan on competing in PLing, go with the pendlay.
