OK My turn - Craigslist find
I coveted these for 2 weeks, didn't think I would get them. The post was labeled "fitness equipment." I waited, communicated and set aside a few bucks. You're looking at a pair of: 35's, 45's, 75's, 85's, 95's and 110's. He threw in the bar and rack for free.
$250

I was ready to make an offer for the DB's that excluded the 110's, then he emailed with a price lower than my offer. Now that they are in my basement, I MUST LIFT THEM
The carry from my truck to basement was a w/o in itself but I had a smile the whole time. Scoring some hard to find iron is a great feeling for this BB'er.

Love it, sold my motorcycle on Craigslist in 7 minutes last month. Sitting here trying to compute just how much you saved yourself.

New is close to $1 a lb and used about 1/2 that here for barbell weights. DB's are a different breed, guys that use 110 DB's generally IMO have been around awhile and know the value of their iron. Can't wait to use this new (to me) stuff this weekend.

Nice score! I was too cheap to fill in the blanks on my dumbbell score with more dumbbells, so I bought a pair of olympic dumbbell bars.

I think $250 is a ridiculously high price for a few pairs of dumbbells.

I'm guessing you've never priced out dumbbells, especially heavy ones.

You are guessing correctly. They are lumps of iron poured into a mold and/or welded together.
But then, I think most metal products are overpriced. That's one big reason so many things are made of plastic these days.

Yeah, but those plastic 110-pounders are just too damned bulky.

Jealous. I'm always keeping an eye out for heavy DBs and they're hard to find. Great pick-up!

I calculate 890 pounds worth of weight. At the cheapest going price anywhere, at least $.95/pound totals to: $845.50, giving a savings of $595.50.
Conclusion: Good score (*IF* you lift them and not let them collect dust <G>)

I was cleaning and configuring the basement gym today with the addition of the DB's. I wish I hadn't spent the last 2 years dropping heavy DB's at my side on the rubber mats in the gym. Anybody know a good source for thick rubber mats?

I put down horse stall mats at the recommendation of Ironwill2000. They are heavy duty and economical. You can pick them up at chain hardware stores. They do stink a bit, but you get used to it.

I picked up my stall mats @ Tractor Supply. The sales person told me the local fitness center was there a day before buying many.
