a damn shame

I got a call early this morning from my girlfriend (she's a cop). I knew it was not a good call because she knows I'm usually asleep at that hour and would not call unless something was bad wrong.

Well, the news was that my training partner for over 20 years was shot and killed as he left the gym tonite. I loved him like a brother (still do). We seen each other through alot of bad chit in and out of the gym.

Thats all I know at this point......I'll fill you in when I get the rest of the story. My girlfriend said she would tell me what she new after her shift was over.

I hope they fry the bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's terrible man. My condolences towards you.

However being a pacifist, I hope they find a humane form of punishment, and not death.

sorry for your loss, but as your girlfriend will probably tell you, such a shooting is rarely random.....

muggings of big guys ,who lift, while leaving a gym is NOT a typical MO, so , most likely , your friend knew his assailant, which means some of the bad chit you guys have been through might still be lingering...just a hunch....

in any case, a terrible loss for you.....

How lucky you were to have a friend like that for so long. Man, I envy you!

I know this hurts, but try to remember all the things about your partner that made the friendship special.

I understand what your saying but I think you may have took what I said "we having been through some bad chit" the wrong way. I did not mean it like that. It's my fault for not going into detail but I was having a hard time...sorry for that.

What I mean by "bad chit" is his youngest brother, dad and first wife and oldest daughter all died in a car wreck three years ago (hit by a drunk driver) on their way to atlanta to see a ballgame. Like me, he did not have many friends (close ones). People like us tend to lead lonesome lives as we know. Anyway....I did not want anyone to think bad things of keith. He was a great guy.

He was an ex-bb.er as far as competing goes. Like me he was natty. Also like me, he was not the best but he really did love doing it.

I don't really have alot of time nor do I really feel like it right now but I want my friends here to know this so I'm going to make this short.

My buddy was on hell of a guy to say the least. A great family guy who loved and provided for his family the best he could and he did pretty good at it.

He loved bb.ing.....he really, really loved it. He did it almost his entire life. Matter of fact he was killed in the gym parking lot about 10 min after he worked out. He had just worked legs.

Now, this is the hard part for me. Keith was shot by someone he did not know. Two days ago Keith was in a local resturant and saw a man hit a woman in the parking lot as he was walking out the resturant to his car.

Keith was they type guy who believed that a woman should not be hit for "any reason".

Long story short here..............when he stepped in between the man and woman that was fighting the guy hit keith. Keith was as strong as a bull so it did not hurt him but he pushed the guy down and made him lay in the parking lot until the cops got there. That was it.....

Last night as he was leaving........the sorry low down wife beating, no good for nothing son-of-bitch shot Keith in the back as he was going to his car.

Wow, sorry to hear this. Your friend was a hero for stepping in to help out a stranger (we all know how dangerous this can be these days). Lets' hope that this woman can benefit from this terrible event and rid herself of this loser, and stay away from his kind in the future.

I'm stunned - so sorry you lost a good friend who was clearly a good man. I dont believe in rehabilitation in cases like this - if its a 100% certain conviction, then fry the basserd - we dont need to pay money to keep scum like that alive.

Not my first thought as I'm a bit like Keith was as far as not worring about myself but my girlfriend (she's a cop and one of the arresting officers) said that the guys brother said he did not come right out and say anything that they could arrest him for but she could tell that he was up to something. She told me the same thing because anyone/everyone in this area knows that Keith and I were like brothers. We had known each other since the 2nd grade.

John.......I know alot more about you than I know about most on here from reading so many of your post because you have really opened up to us at times (big ups to you). Yes, you are correct. To her (the guys ex-wife...the one he was beating up in that parking lot) and her family Keith is a hero as he is to anyone that knew him. That ladies family has already stepped up and said they want to pay for keith's funeral and set up a small trust fund for his two small girls that he left behind (one is 8 and the other is 9).

Man, I agree. At first all I could think about was I would like to get my hands on him. Then like someone mentioned earlier......for some.....prison life is worse than death. And I can tell you one thing.....his kind does not do well in prison.

Thank you........I too am glad they caught him. They had it on tape because they have cameras in the parking lot because of a couple of act of theft in the past.
