Sometimes whilst i workout at the gym i prepare my shake before i go and whilst i work out i let it sit in my car, so that i can smash it down straight away.
Is there anything wrong with this?? Does the protein deteriorate??
Thanks,
Samuel

I am not good with describing the chemistry with the technical jargon, but whey protein's bonds start to break while suspended in liquid. That's why you don't hear ppl mixing in their whey protein to whatever liquid they're using and keeping it in the fridge, making it convenient to sip on whenever they want. That would be nice, but to make things clear and in conclusion, whey protein suspended in a liquid will depreciate. Prepare AFTER a workout and smash it.

I'm not gonna assume anything, but IMO, a few hours is too long. When you go and workout, if given the chance, take a look at those who make their **** pwo.
The idea of whey protein sitting in water/milk and having it depreciate is not a good feeling.
Listen OP, just make it after your workout. Even if you are sipping on it in the middle of a day, the best way to take your whey protein is make it and right after mixing it, take it. You will get the best of it. If you took a strong poll, people who are serious about building, preserving and saturating their muscles would vote and agree that making your drink and drinking it right after will be best.
EDIT: Like I said, while your whey protein chills in its little shaker bottle, those bonds connecting the atoms in your whey protein are being broken up. By the time 2 hours are up, your pwo drink would be a normal, flavored drink and nothing more

Exactly. If you don't wanna understand the chemistry of the depreciation of something suspended in liquid, understand the convenience of having a better tasting drink right after mixing it opposed to having a drink already made and not tasting half as good
EDIT: Give me a comparison of FRESH homemade cookies opposed to packaged cookies.
Give me a comparison of beer straight from the tap opposed to bottled up beer.
Fresh is better

Ok, just because a few people on a forum told you it's bad doesn't mean it's true.
Lots of reps have replied about this and companies have replied that for optimal taste drink it immediately, but otherwise it's ok to leave it mixed as long as it's refridgerated.
There have been like 3 threads on this in the past 24 hours...

And what should I look for when I'm looking at those people who make their sh*t post-wo (I thought we were talking about protein and not sh*t)? I used to do that too. I've been doing it the way I described above for a while now and have absolutely NO indication that my shake sitting there in a refrigerated environment has a negative effect on either the integrity of the protein or my results. In fact, I've actually seen BETTER results...but that's not due to the process with which I make my post-wo shake.
You make lots of scientific claims and have nothing to back it up with. Sounds like you're just running your mouth, brah.

Sorry ALL. Finishin up an essay.
Redcat slow your roll fella! First off what makes you say shi*t pwo? If it works it works right? And I was referring to a whey protein drink left out, not refridgerated. There have been studies that show refridgerating is perfectly fine. You can refridgerate over night and it'll still be good to go the next morning.
Now for talkin ****, you are one ass skinny motha. 6'4" at less than 190, and you're only putting a 1rpm for 207 lbs. I doubt your amazing protein pwo shake is doing jack squat for you. Yes i've seen you around threads and have been criticized for your weight and your lack of knowledge on some threads. Before you harrass someone on the internet, get your facts straight. Shi t I even had your back when ppl called your stupidass out.
Shadar I am in the red b/c I dropped hints of sources in a thread for fun and someone pointed it out. I'm sure T Mac can clarify that if you ask. Mod got me...got me GOOD. But I will provide an article tomorrow since I'm a lil tied up at the moment. I agree with you completely on the refridgerating part.
To clear things up, i was talking about it degrading after being mixed, especially if it sat out. Though, being refridgerated is perfectly fine because it will preserve it. Sorry for any confusion
EDIT: Redcat you post around 8 o clock and decided to wait till 11 to talk **** when you thought ppl were supporting what you were doing. Youre **** you skinny douche bag. You need to gain some serious weight and build some respect. This is why ppl on this forum can't take you seriously you sad excuse of skin and bones.Last edited by samson08; 09-15-2009 at 11:28 PM.
