If your motivation is a rival, GTFIH

I found out that having a rival can push you further than you've ever been able to push before, its a level of motivation I'm adicted too.

there's a guy at my school, similar age, slightly heavier than me, who I competed against for lightweight weightlifting last year. He destroyed me on bench/squat, yet i dominated his clean.

this year, I've been pushing myself, and our benches are now nearly identical (stats are old), give him maybe ten pounds on me, and his squat's a little over mine too, but my clean (around 200ish now) is so far over his it might put me over his total.

gonna be a sick year trying to surpass him.

any of you guys got a rival like that?

Kid at school who claims he benches 175 pounds...(he weighs 130 or so, is 5'6, and has 10 inch arms and a flat chest...but it pushed me enough to jump 15 pounds on my bench)

thats what its all about man thats awesome!
but not really i am motivated watching some of my friends lift i work so i can lift more than them, but mainly im my own worst enemy/rival. all the mistakes ive made in my life are because of my bad judgement so whenever im in the weight room and im challenged i feel i physically have to beat my mind by pushing harder

hahah nice man. good luck with that, it's amazing how much competition can motivate you, huh.

last year, i used to workout with two of my good friends, and out of us 3, i was the least muscular. after realizing that, i decided that i wanted to be the most "buffest" guy out of all of us, so that motivation really fueled my workouts. now, after a couple of months, ive clearly achieved that goal, thank God, and i plan on keeping myself always on top.

He isn't aware of it but there's a guy I'm always comparing myself to. And losing to. lolz

He's 5'7 160ish and I'm 5'7 185ish, I'd be about 5 pounds heavier than him lean

He's monstrously strong though, 405 dead/360 squat/220 bench last I knew of, about 6 months ago. Virtually untrained, all he's done is the school powerlifting program that is pathetic. I'm at 315/0/215 =/

He's 17, almost 18 but I don't see how age would make that big of a difference. -_-

my friend and roomate was beastly when i met him 2 and a half years ago, before i started working out. I'm still trying to beat him in lifts. His bench is like 10 lbs over mine, squat not sure, and dead like 40 lbs over mine. Truth is, he hasn't changed at all since I met him. I got like 15 lbs on him but he's been lifting for like 4 years

when i benched 215 i was already training to beat my highschools bench record at of like 315. By the time summer was over i could bench like 350 and the school record had jumped to 335. I felt ballin no doubt.

to bad that it was the football records, not the school records. So i couldnt get my name on the board because i didnt play.

Kid at school has a little mass on me but is way leaner. I think he doesn't train legs or back though so his bench would probably be the only major lift he beats me in. Still a good rival as he has a little strength on me when it comes to arms and chest.

This kid and I went at it hardcore in 8th grade like ready to kill each other and we hate each other...

he smokes weed and has maybe 8' arms, a wigger basically.

I think of him (no homo) when I need that last rep, i'm like, you better keep reppin so you can dominate him.
