Grrrr!
Okay..so some might of read me whining in other posts, but I figured it was time for me to make my own in hopes of some assistance. Here goes...
I started keto three weeks ago today. I did not do a carb-up until 14 days. At that point, I had lost five pounds (woo-hoo!) After my carb up, things were "okay", (didnt notice any weight gain from the carb up) but five days later was Labor Day weekend. I endulged Saturday by drinking. My diet was okay that day but could have been better (ate some bad stuff after coming home from drinking!!). I am SURE I was knocked out of ketosis. So I will just call that day a "carb up" for lack of better words. The beginning of last week ALL FIVE of the lost pounds returned. Figured it was water weight from drinking..but it never really left. I have been hopping on the scale all this weekend and the numbers change slightly, both up and down. Today I am at 118, which means I am down 2 pounds TOTAL since starting the diet. This also means three pounds returned from last week. WTF?!
I have all the signs of ketosis...metallic taste in mouth, strong urine, etc. Macros are on point, and Im working my booty off at the gym.
What the eff is going on?! I'm sure we have all been there, but I must say, its veeery discouraging!!!
Any help would be much appreciated!!

I'm gonna warn ya sistah' that the scale is not predictable when you are on this diet. lol. First off we've got all kind of hormonal things going on, secondly females take longer to burn off glycogen so we have to space out carbing up to make sure we're using it all, and thirdly, if you're killing it in the gym...when your muscles tear they will hang on to water to help them heal (this is along the same lines as a blister on the foot.) When I was only doing pilates and wasn't doing anything too strenuous I kept dropping weight. Once I threw in some heavy lifting...it jacked my weight up by about 4 or 5 pounds. I have since decided to give up the scale. It is evil!!

Totally agree. Get a tape measure and use it, and take lots of naked pictures of yourself. Then hide your mobile.....

wow...AWESOME explanation on how the wonderful female body works! Thanks so much..that helps a LOT!! Believe me, the Labor day Endulgement was a fluke and I will not have carb up for some time, so hopefully that will make things better. Okay, so no more relying on the scale, just a long as I can get into the skinny jeans soon!

I'm going to add one more thing to put this into perspective. I've seen your stats...you are a petite lil thing and look great already btw. I am one inch taller than you and I weighed myself just for your sake...(oh the things I do for you people....lol) and I am at 132 this morning. I attribute this to the pickles and pepperoni I ate yesterday. The scale is back in the closet!
Oh...and last thing I swear...don't totally avoid carbs. You do need some. After you do this for a while you'll get a feel for what you need and don't need. Just stick with it. Youre gonna do great!
EDIT: Just looked at your pics...you're already jacked. Bajeebuz.

awww...thank you soooo much! This post made my day. SERIOUSLY!! I must say, when I look at your pics (yes, I did peek!) I am super impressed at your hard work and booty kicking abilities. I guess we are our own worst critics, and I could possibily be being quite impatient with my goals.
I won't avoid the carbs and will continue with the carb ups every few weeks. Its funny because I was a HUGE fan of carbs prior to keto and now I don't even miss them. Now, if I could JUST kick this darn PB addiction of mine!!!

Well thank you girlfriend.
Btw...do you want to worsen your addiction? I "water down" my PB with cream cheese and cocoa. It's my downfall. I actually spent an entire week eating only 1650 calories a day of this. I lost a pound but my husband wanted to shoot me because we have a nine year old that wants to go on a PB diet so she can have muscles like mommy.ACK!
Keep up the good work and keep on posting!
