I'm a tight, aggressive player. It's really hard to discuss strategy about preflop betting without actually knowing the situations, players at the table, and those types of things, but I'll try to sum up my strategies.

Generally I'm playing pocket pairs, suited connectors, connecting cards, and all these things also depend on the position I'm in and how the table has been playing.

If you really want to talk in-depth about poker strategy, I'm a little rusty on it since I haven't played that often the past couple years, but just PM me with any questions.

First of all congrats on winning $3k playing cards, it feels good whenever you leave the table positive, especially when it's something significant. You said you were playing a 2/5 capped (obviously) game? Max buy I assume was $300? Maybe 5? What casino were you at, I don't know if your in So Cal or Nor Cal...You played your full house poorly by the way. Why are you slow playing your hand? Your playing a capped buy in game (I will assume it's $300), and from what I understand everyone in the hand pretty much had the same amount of money within $100 or so, and you had position (from how you described the hand) So you have 5-6 players seeing the flop for $5, someone makes a pot sized bet ($25) on the flop, and you get 4 or so callers in front of you with 2 spades out there, a straight draw out there, etc and you have position. You have a strong hand but no where near a nut hand. Why would you not raise there? You know at LEAST a few of them are chasing straights and flushes, maybe someone has a 9 or 8. What if someone has A-8? K-8? Q-8? Do you really want to see a river? Do you really think someone at a 2/5 game is throwing away A-10 of spades (or whatever nut flush draw) they have if you make it $60/$70 to go? No. You think someone is throwing away A-8? No. You're not playing deep enough to trap someone in a hand. Your turn bet was good, and the river played itself out which had you done what I said previously the outcome would have been the same because luckily no one had Q-8, A-8, and an ace didnt come out etc. Capped games it is hard to get someone to lay down a huge draw because their isn't enough chips involved for them to lay it down, so you might as well capitalize on your hands as much as you can. Someone told you to build a bankroll, but from the sounds of it you're not playing cards for a living, so you really don't need a bankroll. If you feel like playing cards, just go play lol. You only play every now and again, so I would enjoy your winnings and go buy something that makes you happy.

Cash game is generally $10k you have to fill out a W-G. Tournament is different. In Vegas they question you if you try to cash out like 2k, but at Commerece you cash out like 8k and they don't bat an eye lol

However, the reason why I didn't reraise on the flop to isolate against one or two opponents was because the player who had raised was on tilt from losing a big hand the hand before.

I felt that he would fire another big bet on the turn if I just called the flop. I honestly could have played the hand better in hindsight, but if we all know what's going to happen in poker then we'd all be millionaires.

I actually explained what nuts meant not for you, but other people reading this thread. Someone asked me earlier about another poker terminology I used, so I just posted the definition of it before someone asked or made a joke using the word "nuts."

As for the $1K heads-up challenge, I was using sarcasm (as was that guy I think). I don't play poker often now, like I said before. But if you really want to, next time you're in the Bay Area let me know and if I have time we can try to set something up. I don't really play heads-up poker, it's so much more different than normal 9-10 handed play, so I probably won't play you heads-up, but we could play if you really want to take advantage of me.
