Does Bench pressing decrease breast size?

Im ignorant and sorry for this but I was wondering....does benching decrease your breast size? Cause I've always thought this so I figured I'd ask.

No. It can make like a pec under your breast, but it doesnt exactly make them smaller. Just bench, but don't like powerlift. :P

No. The only thing that can decrease breast size is losing body fat. That's all the breast is comprised of...fat. Muscle is underneath. Building chest muscles can improve the look of the chest area.

Boobs are fat and glandular tissue. Bench will build up the pectoral muscle underneath but won't make the fat or glands get smaller.

If you lose body fat, you'll probably drop breast size.

I'm sorry I just don't understand the logic here. Why would you even think this? I'm not saying you have to be a Biology Wizz or an Anatomy Professor here... but COME ON. If you know anything about working out... you'd know that this is not the case.

    Breast tissue= fat.

Benching works out the pectoralis Major and Minor

Working out muscles causes them to get bigger= hypertrophy

How could you or would you ever think that benching decreases breast size?

If this was the case... wouldn't Reconstructive Surgeons just tell all of their patients that come to them wanting a breast reduction to hop on a bench and bench press.?

    call me crazy

The poor lady is just a confused beginner...she probably assumes this because of the pictures of lean women who work out having very little breast tissue.

Ofcourse the answer to her question is no...bench pressing on its own will not decrease bust size...only fat loss via dieting and/or extra cardio decreases bust size.

My "pecs" would be a lot smaller if it did. I'm 290 lb and not entirely lean as a result and my pecs which are pretty big are about 3/4 muscle and 1/4 fat. I like them anyway. Thing is though I've been a bench press fanatic (allways the first exercise I do) for my last 23 years of regular gym training.

My current bench press routine which I do once a week goes like this

    8x135 lb, 8x225, 10x250, 8x250, 8x250, 7x250

point is that's a lot more mass than you'll be doing on bench any time soon, right?

Yet I went from having no chest, flat as a tac, to not just having pretty large pecs but a fair bit of gyno on top of that (just fat gyno not glandular gyno). I look alright I think because of the muscle under it but with no muscle well I'd probably be approaching an A cup (which may not sound like much for a girl, but before I started benching and getting fat I had nothing and the benching certainly hasn't casued them to shrink any).

I'd post a pic but fortunately for some of the more senstive souls here I can't find a camera.

Trust me bench press won't shrink your breasts.

    bust

As in my experience I have lost one cup size and 80 lbs. I have gained shaplier chest and they seem to standup better but it really doesn't do that much...now if you get you bodyfat below 12% your neccesarry fat for women...then that can cause hormonal imbalance and they will shrink...it has nothing to do with lifting weights...just bodyfat reduction.
We are only weak if we choose to be weak...strength starts in the mind and empowers us to do great things...be strong.

Too bad we cannot choose where the fat comes off first...we can only choose what we eat and how we exercise. Only focus on what can be chosen!

YOU can either make negative excuses or you can get positive results...YOU can't do both!

My favorite quote: "Never eat more than you can lift" -- Miss Piggy

I've noticed doing dumbbell presses as heavy as I can manage has given me a small amount of (what I like to call) muscle cleavage! yes its barely noticeable but it's visible on an angle whereas before it would be ribs in that area. It makes me look a bit more lifted and perky so a nice addition to a small B cup with no cleavage on their own..

I agree, ever since I started bench pressing, it has lifted my breast a little!!

Many women experience a noticeable reduction in breasts size since they typically start at a higher body fat percentage. Have you measured your body fat recently? If you already have a low body fat % of 20% or below, I would focus on heavy weight-training for now to build muscle and engage in cardio perhaps a few days a week for about 10 minutes or so just to maintain cardiovascular fitness and burn a few extra calories. If you eat clean while building lean muscle, the amount of fat gained will be minimal. Thus, you won't have to spend as much time "leaning down" and your breasts will experience less fat loss.

But, yes, you will 'look' bigger due to the increased muscle mass lining the sternum. This contour, when the pectoral muscles are appropriately developed, is also responsible for the 'lift' that many of the ladies have mentioned. It will be more apparent particularly when doing scapular retraction (drawing back your shoulders) and seeing yourself from the side. Symmetry is very important, so make sure you lift heavy to develop your upper back muscles as well. This overall gain in upper body girth - along with a tight midsection - will give you the illusion that your breasts are a bit 'bigger.'

What? Don't powerlift? What do you mean?

Breasts are mostly fat. What makes them smaller is a reduction in bodyfat.
