PSMF and creativity.
Anyone doing a PSMF noticed any difference in how your brain works?
I had dental work done recently and ended up living on salad and tuna for several days. PSMF in fact. And I noticed that I literally couldn't write a word. Ok, the painkillers and antibiotics may have been a factor, but I noticed that as soon as I was able to eat normal keto again, I got four chapters written.
And for the women, I'm convinced that PSMF messes with your cycle. I started about a week early.

its funny u ask! because I am starting to notice that I am having a hard time focusing in my classes, which normally is not a problem. And yes my cycle came a lot earlier....came the same week when I started PSMF and I was not due at least for another week to week and a half....xP

When I do only meat and eggs...my cycle is all over the place.

Can anyone explain PSMF to me.. I have no idea what it means, but sounds like most of the other hard-core folk do it..

Protein Sparing Modified Fast
Think 1000 calories with 800 being protein and you have a close picture. Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fast Loss Diet is a really good version.

Yep, I felt like that. And it was amazing the difference once I managed to get a couple of proper keto meals into me.

Yeah, all about dietary fat. Without it you feel:
1. dead
2. depressed
3. deprived
PSMF for me was quite litereally horrible - I could just sit and stare into the computer dekstop screen for three minutes before i realized why i went to the computer in the first place, it was really freaking horrid.
Forgot which sets i've done and which i haven't done in the gym etc... really, brainfog x5.
EDIT: Redheadlaw - I sustained it for 4 months.
Ate 800cal daily worth of chicken only, supplementing with 6g of EFA. Then every Wednesday I would eat 800cal of chicken and go have a reasonable cheat meal, like a low fat pizza/burger/pasta whatever. Every Saturday I would eat high carb, low fat and 1g protein pr lb at maintenance level.
Once a month i ate 40/40/20 at maintenance level for a week to prevent too much metabolic slowdown.
My average FAT LOSS has been around 3lb weekly.
I sustained my strength in the gym, and regained 10 of the 48 pounds when I started eating carbs again.
IMO it's not worth it whatsoever. It's a silly, silly way to diet, and impatience is bliss - that's really my conclusion

I've heard stories about people who did this for a year, and there are a few commercial weight loss programs out there that are based on this, though usually shakes and puddings rather than tuna or chicken. But you really need to be at your limit before you do it.
You absolutely don't enjoy anything while doing it. You spend a lot of time thinking about how deprived you feel, and how pissed off you are with life in general, and you have a major grudge against a world that is full of enticing smells and you are stuck with bloody tuna.

I've read a lot of posts on other forums that involve those commercial programs which are basically starvation diets...but those people are PRESCRIBED appetite suppressants by doctors so that they can keep it up for longer than a few days. They are also medically supervised. From what I've read they obsess about how to make the best flavored ice cubes to eat. It's insane!!! They are in the situation where they are better off starving than getting any fatter

What have your results been like?
I know I couldn't do it because I see eating as such a social experience and I love going out with hubby and friends...and I don't think I could sit and watch people eat great fatty food while I had my three bites of chicken.
I admire you SO MUCH!

wow thanks lol I am down about 8lbs, stomach is more defined, the butt is still having a hard time leaving..lol.. I have about one week left to complete a 6 week round then I'm going to eat at maintenance for 2 weeks to reset my metabolism. Either I will go another 6 week round or hop back on the keto train!!!!!
It's actually not SO bad because I get a free meal once per week which I use on saturday night to eat out with friends and then on wednesdays I do a clean 5 hr carb up (i have FINALLY come to control myself on carb ups, now when I come back to CKD I can actually do it right)

I can do that!
Sweeten some strong coffee, and freeze it in ice cube tray or similar.
When it's frozen, put into a strong plastic bag and bash hell out of it with a dumbbell (you always wanted a use for those pink dumbbells, right?).
When it's the texture of brown sugar, eat with a spoon. Heavy cream optional.
