you cant easiest/cheapest way is to make it. I start out with about 5 lbs wet of ground venison when the GFs dad gives us meat every year, but you have to figure the cost of the meat and the cure and even if you can get the meat for 5$ per pound (i use ground turkey breast sometimes) you will yield much less than a pund of jerky.
I watched a show on how they actually make quality beef jerky at a seller's factory. Its actually a very time consuming and complicated process with a lot of factors and steps to take. Its a lot of work, so thats why its so expensive.
