I have been to Bali twice, most recently last November. I found a local gym and tried to get in a few workouts, but otherwise, I ate whatever I felt like.... various things like satay chicken and rice, nasi goreng etc. I got bali belly and was sick as a dog for 3 days which may have explained why I didn't gain any weight!

People need to remember when this is your LIFESTYLE, the percentage of time vacations and special events are going to take out of your life is normally so minimal that it's not going to make a bit of difference what you eat or what your activities are during those times. A couple of weeks of enjoying another culture is not going to ruin the cumulative effects of what you have accomplished now or what you will continue to accomplish when you get back. A break from the gym and some excess calories CAN be good for the body in the long-run. And breaks from the norm are good for your soul.

Bring some healthy snacks and bottled water so you don't have to run around hungry looking for a place to eat, or in case eating tons of foreign food doesn't agree with your belly. But otherwise, don't worry about it.

Are you in a resort or in the actual town? I have travelled to some countries (such as the Middle East) and actually lost weight because I ate local food - veggies, grilled meats, and in my case, things like hummus, eggs, cucumbers, etc.

Seriously? Think about this question for just a second.... I mean play it back again over in your head. You are visiting this very cool place and have the chance to really experience some cool and interesting foods and culture and you are worried about somehow keeping up your macros? Are you kidding me? Just eat whatever is local and eat until you are full and not overfull. You are not going to put on a pile of fat doing this and you are not going to screw up your current path either. Enjoy the vacation already and furthermore take a rest week from the gym! Sheesh.... Are we all insane on this board or what? Our bodies find a way to adapt to things like diet breaks and rest weeks girls! In fact, some people think they are good things.

(BTW: I always pack beef jerky and almonds when I travel. It gives me a way to eat some protein and fats since you often go without eating for long periods of time when doing the whole airport thing.)

I completely agree with Amanda and kfish -- unless you are a competitive body builder weeks away from a show -- there is no reason to "panic" if you may not be around the proper foods or training facilities. I'm assuming this trip is for pleasure -- why on Earth would you not want to experience all this amazing part of the world has to offer? Your eating/workout regimine will be there when you get back.

I have finally realized that you can balance a social life AND a healthy life -- the real key is not to obsess over either.

    Enjoy your trip!
