Pre Game Energy

I play hockey and was looking for a good pre game energy boost. Right now I just eat a high carb meal like pasta or oats with plenty of water, but looking for something more to give me more energy and allow me to play harder, longer. Are caffeine pills the way to go? What are you guys taking?

A little bit of caffeine isn't bad, but once you get over like 80mg, like the amount in a cup of coffee you're going to do yourself more harm than good. Caffeine is diuretic, so its going to dehydrate you, which is going to hurt you towards the end of games.

I like this stuff called ZipFizz about an hour to 30 min before I need the boost. Its got lots of B12 and B6 which are also natural energy boosters and about 100mg of caffeine. Hard to explain, but you get a kind of happy high out of the stuff.

Also, I'm a fan of those Powerbar PowerGel packets and Clif bars both have good calories, but as heavy as pasta and easy to hold down when you're going all out.

Thanks for the response. I have been taking White Flood for a few practices and can feel a difference. Is there anything cheaper I can take?
