Keep in mind several things. Klokov has been doing this a LONG time, like 10+years. The Oly lifts will not magically make you stronger in the power lifts. They will make you more powerful and explosive, yes, and you can get stronger, but not necessarily in the Oly lifts!!
I'm not trying to keep you from learning the lifts, far from it, but I don't want you to think you'll magically get jacked in the PL's just by adding the Oly lifts to your training.Training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=168969133

Cool!! Whatever gets you motivated, I say!!
I've just seen several lifters who are trying to find the magic pill/workout/training system and think that adding stuff like the Oly lifts will magically get them stronger and faster just by doing the lifts. They burn out real fast when they learn how hard the Oly lifts really are.
Good luck to you, sir!!Training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=168969133

I think we'll start to see this with the new IPF Raw Worlds. Obviously not the top lifters like Klokov but with second tier lifters that aren't going to make it to the olympics. In this year's inaugural raw world championships there were lots of ex-oly lifters from countries like Greece and some other European countries.

And it could also work the other way around with top powerlifters going into Olympic lifting.
I think the best example is Alex Edward Raus. He recently broke the world record in the raw squat for his weight category (though top Olympic lifters have probably done more in training) but he's also tried his hand at weightlifting, power snatching 120kg and power clean and jerking 140kg at last year's Estonian nationals (he's up to a 150kg C&J this year). Now these numbers aren't that amazing considering his strength levels but take into account the fact that he's only 19 years old and supposedly he does barely any training for the classical lifts, just practices the technique a bit before competitions and you've got someone who's got huge potential to become a serious contender for the next Olympics.Strength + Speed = Power
If you never fail, you aren't truly pushing yourself to the limit. If you never push yourself to the limit, how do you know what you're truly capable of?

This is the type of thinking that's been proven to be false time and time again. "Decent" numbers for someone who doesn't actively train in the sport have zero value in terms of olympic potential. He is just too far behind at 19 in terms of experience and technique. Also his powerlifting numbers mean nothing. Find out how much he can front squat and that will be a bigger indicator if he's got the world class strength.

I think that might be a very high estimate. Don't get me wrong his 250 paused front squat was insane but in all likelyhood he probably doesn't even backsquat heavy.
With that being said if you had said Klokov could push press 225kg and there was no video of it, how many people would actually believe that?Misc Strength Crew

You guys take this 'o-lifters don't squat heavy' bud charninga mantra too seriously IMO.
Xiajun squats 300kg
Yong squats 340kg
Dimas squatted 330kg
As a 105 class lifter who probably walks around at 250+lbs at the off-season you really think he only squats 290-310? A better guestimate is 350 IMO.'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'
