Is the GUI any different?
I've thought about upgrading, but i'm not sure if it's worth the money.

I spent 10 minutes trying to install a hackintosh.
Needless to say i poped in my Vista recovery cd not soon after.

Gonna get the upgrade next friday. Only 25 quid. Was thinking about D/Ling it but too risky when it comes to OSes. From reviews etc, it doesn't seem that a whole lot has changed. Minor speed improvements and interface changes mainly I think.
Shame it doesn't come with iLife 09 either. Gonna have to get that at some point as well.
Also, don't like the new Quicktime X logo. Weird how they went from 7, to X.

It frees up a load of HHD space as a lot of the files are written for PPC and intel on the old OS X. Now only the intel part is needed. Also, printer drivers are handled differently; reclaiming space.

Scott do you use logic on either system? I've been holding off because I've been hearing about some compatibility headaches wondered if there was any truth to them?

I work with audio and have my own studio and I think I'm going to wait to upgrade. I've heard a lot of nightmarish stories from colleagues about drivers not working, programs crashing in the middle of recording sessions and so on. The audio apps and their respective hardware are usually the last to conform with a new OS. I guess I'll have to give it a few months...but I'm tempted to make a small partition with Bootcamp to just test it out.

Yeah, give it some time. Logic Pro 9 is just about bug-free on Leopard, I wouldn't risk transferring all my projects to Snow Leopard. I've heard a lot of people complaining about Logic and Pro Tools on 10.6..latency issues, glitches in recordings etc.

I haven't notice any appreciable difference at all. But for $35 or whatever it cost, it's not a big deal.

Actually, I retract my previous statement - Quicktime player can now play .flv files, with the ability to control which point of the video you watch (and that serves a wonderful purpose )

Is it that noticeably quicker? (paticularly on programs with more significant loadtimes like apeture/photoshop) Do the benefits outweight the drawbacks? I think I may just wait to january when I upgrade my macbook to a mbp.
Also off topic, what camera etc, do you use? Whats the different between Apeture/Lightroom. I've been looking at shooting RAW but at the moment I don't think I'm doing anything with my photos that warrants it. How much difference does it make?

runs faster brah, and it cleared up like 12 GBs of space on my hard drive. not very much into the technical stuff but performance-wise it got a little bit faster and some of my programs run faster and smoother now.
