Do you think you would have a shot at whipping Faber in the cage if you are over 180lbs? The guy is fast as hell but unless he could get my back and choke me out I don't see how he could take someone my size. I also realize that we are on opposite ends of both the talent and skill spectrum so I might just walk in and get my arse handed to me. I was just wondering how you big guys feel you would fare against a small elite fighter.

It was an analogy. He said if a pro fighter can beat another pro fighter who is 100 lbs heavier, then it makes sense that a pro fighter can beat an amateur who is 100 lbs heavier. It may or may not be true, but its a valid comparison IMO.
If faber kicked a regular person square in the face it would hurt like **** no matter what you weighed.

I have a good chin and 7 years experience but no I feel I can not take on a pro who is 2 weight classes lower.
EDIT: I know enough to loose a decision maybe but not win. Unless you know what your doing, it doesn't matter how big you are, you will loose. Ive rolled with body builders who out weighted me and by the 2nd minute they were gassed and I just continued to drain their tank and end it.Last edited by PrimeraRS; 09-04-2009 at 08:41 AM.

Did you see where I said I might get my arse handed to me. This is a board and so speculation and discussions take place here. Please work on your reading comprehension so that you are able to do things like participate in message board discussions and READ BOOKS. Remember it is never too late and I am sure there are many literacy programs with volunteers nearby to help you. Good luck and God speed.

I outweight Faber by 40-ish pounds.
But I openly admit he's faster, stronger, 1000X more athletic and a lot better looking than me.In 1945, Adolf Hilter died and went to Hell. Satan asked, "why are you in Hell?" He replied, "I am responsible for the massacre of millions" Satan said, "well done, sit to the right of my throne." In 1953, Joseph Stalin died and went to Hell. Satan asked, "why are you in Hell?" He replied "I killed millions to stay in power" Satan said "good, sit to my left" 2010, Ronnie James Dio died and went to Hell, Satan asked, "why are you in Hell?" Dio replied, "Bitch, get the fuk off my throne!"

YES. I can take him.
bottom line is statistically if we fought 10 times i COULD beat him once. 190lbs, and been doing gi and no gi bjj about 5 months. not trained as a striker but probably have a strikers chance. also been told i have good wrestling.
not saying i am good at all, but am saying that in mma there is ALWAYS at least a 1 percent chance that anyone can get beat. strong punchers chance who knows.

lol I knew the big dude crew was gonna show up in this thread. Despite what you think, being big with no skills doesn't guarantee you a win over a world-class fighter.
Yeah, I'm sure you could shrug off a punch from a NORMAL 160-pounder, but not from one who trains professionally to throw them.
Leg kick, takedown, overhand right, good night.
Weight classes are there to prevent a weight advantage from fighters of EQUAL SKILL."The sun is always gonna rise, and always gonna set and I'll just keep on punching because everyday is gonna bring something different and I just want to be ready for it."

I think he'd beat me pretty easily.

I would get beaten in less then a minute at 210 with a year BJJ experience.. hell I would get beaten that fast if I was 250.

That is why I asked the question here as I assumed most are not without skills. I am not un trained, I have been training in BJJ or 6 months, but I am far from seasoned. I am just wondering whether a fighter Fabers size could take a much larger man as he would be winning with superior skill only. I don't think I would land a punch on Faber because he is much too fast but I also don't believe he could knock me out, I could be very wrong in that assumption. I think that Faber would hit me many times but the place I feel a big guy has a real advantage is if he is able to get Faber on the ground and get at least side control. If I were able to get a full mount on Faber there is no way he could get me off not because I am good but because I am simply too heavy and I have enough training to keep my weight on his chest. The only way I could get Faber on the ground would be if he tried to take me down. What would probably happen in this fight is that Faber would dance around the ring for the duration of the fight and hit me in the face cutting me up but not knocking me out and he would win a decision.
