Need advice on bulking up
Okay for the last two months Ive been trying to gain weight and lift weights. I went from 158 to 168-170. I want to get to 185lbs. I drink one shake a day I think I should go for two.
I really hate to cook plus I work a really weird shift at work. Can anyone point me into the right direction with high cal. quick meals? Also since Im about 168lbs and want to get to 185lbs how many calories should I be taking in a day? Thanks
Ronnie

It's not just about the calories you consume but the type of calories as well my good man. I would suggest since you hate to cook, cook your meals in bulk. Are you keeping track of your calorie intake or just eating. I would suggest weigh yourself daily and once your weight stops increasing up your calories by 200 per day, once it stops increase again. Rinse wash and repeat till you meet your goal. Good Luck

Enough to make you gain weight. You're going to have to figure out the exact number for yourself.

Then I have to disagree with your suggestion. The negative effects of fast food in any diet are to many to list. I would not recommend any fast food in a diet, other than a cheat meal once or twice a week. ( Try for one)
Nothing beats solid clean consistent eating.

And you will end up with negative results. He will not like his look at 185 cause of the wrong type of calories he took in will cut back down and end up in a dreadful cycle.
You get what you put into a healthy lifestyle, you want the McDonald look results, be my guest.

So you can't eat 700 cals at McDonalds everyday and have a good body? If not, why?

Have you ever took the time to consider the type of calories he will be taking in? An individual that is currently his weight 700 calories is 1/4 possibly even 1/3 of what he needs.
The type of foods you eat have a direct impact of your results. Anyone who has studied nutrition, or even attempted bodybuilding, track & field, or any sport will agree. Fast foods tend to make people sluggish. As a cheat meal i have no problem, but part of a consistent diet, sorry will never have me agree.

Jtyc40 thanks for all your help. For those who cant read between the lines when I said a quick meal I was talking about healthy as well. Im eating right now about 2700 cal a day and that keeps me full. Im trying to eat more.
I'll do like you said add another 200 so I'll round it off to 3000 cal a day and see if that works. Im not a lazy person trying to get fast results just trying to get the most (healthy) calories I can with each meal with what little time I have...

Just weigh yourself daily to make sure your gaining. I know its tedious but it works. Even if you go up .01. If your going up healthy, it will be slow, be consistent and stay positive, good luck.
