Vids: Front Squats with Safety Squat bar 425x6 and 345x12

did these last night and thought Id share.

if you have never used a safety bar and have access to one, try it, makes the lift MUCH harder as the leverage point is shifted as the weight rests even further out in front of you. To give a reference point, I have a 650 parallel box squat

Very impressive bro! I have one at my gym too, and I must say, a helluva lot better than a regular bar for front squats! I feel it more in the quads and it takes even more pressure off your back. How much does that bar weigh? I see you had 4 plates on, and with a standard bar it would be 405lb. Is that bar like 65lbs? Just wondering because I always thought it weighed the same. I recently did 3 plates for 8 and I'm currently 3 weeks out from my show, so that extra 20lbs makes me feel good!

Also, props for posting a vid that shows FULL range of motion on squats. At first I wanted to see the pics and I thought "great, another one of those half ass squat vids", but you did otherwise. Once again, congrats and keep it up!

Damn

I've never seen one of those bars but it has definitely peeked my interest!!! I was discussing back soreness last night with my buddies and I think that bar might help out. I'm looking for a new gym in the next couple of months so I'll keep my eyes open for the safety bar.

Thanks Italian! The bar is a 65lb bar, at least the one from NY Barbells, where I bought it is. I weighed it just to make sure lol. You got some wheels on ya, which doesnt surprise me if you are moving 3 plates for 8 with the ssb!

ruds, if you can find a gym with one, by all means go for it!

When the SSB is used for regular back squats it negates any shoulder pain that a straight bar would cause and does rest easy on the back

however, lol

be prepared for a very different lift..... It torches the low back and abs and makes breathing difficult due to the weight still resting in front of you, its an aweome tool to add to the exercise rotation
