College anyone
Anyone going back to college due to lay-offs and the economy? Lets here about it. I started last week and I'm really enjoying it. Even at 42! Gonna get my degree in a different field.

Working on a Masters degree, should be doing work rather than loafing in here now.

I've been going for the last 2.5 years. I've got 4 more semesters including rotations and I'm done. I'm currently employed. In fact, my employer pays for everything including books and when I graduate, I get a $10,000 stock award so it's a pretty nice program. I'm fortunate to be a part of it. My classes start Friday.

Other than the fun I had with my friends in college, it was a complete waste of time!

i never went to college, and I make pretty decent money at 22 yrs old(72k yearly) but it was only by sheer luck and gods grace that i landed the job(and my boss whom ive known for 12+years, friend of the parents)
i did get laid off at the beggining of the year but they hired me back on about 2 months ago..so about 4 months laid off
the only class I plan on taking is a 3 day class that cost 1,200 dollars
but if i take it, it will double my salary

I started this week. Getting a biology transfer degree so I can take the radiology technician program at UNLV. Once I complete that I plan on working my way through either a continuation of the radiology field or maybe getting into something different, but still biology related. I'm only taking 2 classes. (don't laugh!) Pre-algebra, and biology. Once I get through this biology class I'll be able to take the anatomy and radiology classes required for the rad tech program.

My job was oilfield related then it went to sh*t. That's why I was laid off and trying to get into a different field.

Oh man I would absolutely LOVE to get into a Physician's Assistant program. But who would pay the bills? I've got a mortgage, car payment, and food ain't free. Never heard of a night school PA program, and certainly none near where I live.

Looking At Going Back To School
but I'm being careful.
My wife works in conjuction with HUD. She just hired two guys with degrees as janitors. They said the pay and benefits were the best they could find.
In my area, the only money jobs are medical, offshore, or a truck driver.
