All I have for her, and correct me if I'm wrong.
-lift 2-3 x a week, splits
-cardio 2-3 ( I don't know if more? mix between low and high intensity)
-diet
I have no idea about a womens diet. And I don't know how to tell what a womans BF% is so I can't calculate how many cals she needs, I was thinking 1200-1500?
I'm guessing a diet like palumbo and keto would be a bad idea? Better to get her used to decent habits first? And slowly lose 1-2 lbs a week? Any advice would be great.

If you want to keep your girlfriend, stay out of it.
I would advise that you suggest she consult a nutritionist or a PT. Because if you try to explain anything, she won't believe you because "she doesn't want to get to get all bulky." Then, if she visits a nutritionist/PT who says the exact same things that you do, she will believe him/her 100%.1

If she wants weight loss, focusing on nutrition(diet) is more important than lift/cardio. Why does she not get on here and learn for herself? If she is not willing to spend a bit of her time to learn, I don't believe she is going to want to put in the time nor change any other habits to see weight loss. Just my experience, good luck!

This is very true.
Also an indication.
Either way you are still looking for help, and dont want to shoot you down without giving the necessary tools.
Fitday lets you categorize her calories down to a tee, may be tedious but very beneficial.
Fitday *dot* com
*dot* = . Replace *dot* with . I am unable to post links because I have recently joined.
Link below offers numerous of calculators, how much bf%, which exercises get rid of x calories at different paces, ideal weight, etc..

Also the losing weight stickie is filled with information.
I would suggest cardio 20-30mins 6 days of the week, 3 Day split of light lifting but high reps too tone(you may do 100 pounds, of 8-12 reps, she does 40 of 20 reps). Some good stretching.
She needs to set small goals, and keep measurements, sometimes you may not lose that x # of pounds but you may lose inches. Don't weigh yourself everyday, once a week. When she starts to get down, gotta revision in your mind what it feels like to be achieve that goal. Feels really good, when you lose weight you're not only looking good, but you feel amazing. You do get more energy, enthusiasm, and self esteem. Its life altering. Sometimes I read the topic of how people get treated differently now there in shape, and it gives me that extra push.
Im still working at this so if I misguided her please critique my response.8/13/2009 212 Starting Weight

Ahh, actually she has been lifting heavy with me. I just wasn't sure if it was best for a woman lol. I'll suggest that to her thanks.
She's been coming with me on and off, and she's following my routine which is mostly heavy free weight. I'll get her to talk to someone about nutrition or tell her to research. Thanks.
Fitday was a nightmare for me. Thanks for trying to give advice, the fact that you used the word tone tells me your new and haven't done your research lol. I agree with the cardio from what I know, but 20 reps? She could lift heavy for 12-15 and get much better benefits.
I think I'll keep her on my routine, get her doing cardio 4-6 days a week, and she can get her diet in check. I'll keep you posted if I have a gf or not in awhile lol.
My routine consists of military presses, bench press, deadlifts, squats, rows, pullups, all the good free weight stuff. Thanks for the advice guys.Last edited by Rattlehead18; 09-02-2009 at 02:15 PM.

If she's too lazy to jump on here and ask her own questions she probably won't reach her goals either. Tell her to come here and ask her own questions and to read up on what needs to be done.
"Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting.Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think.Talk to me again when you get in contest shape." I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.
