NJMUSCLE66 returns with a Vengeance log.
First off I want to thank Dave for the opportunity to log the product. I have used much of the Xtreme Formulations line over the years, and even was a rep for a time.
Over the past couple years my training has taken a little bit of a back seat to some of the other more critical aspects in life. Family, work stress, etc. Though I was still getting into the gym, it was not as often, and my eating habits left a lot to be desired. However things have settled down and I am going to use this log as a kick-off to a full fledged contest prep log for 2010. I joined a gym that is within walking distance to my home, so I have no excuse for not getting back on track. Ok enough of the preliminary bs.
First off I think the packaging/labeling for Vengeance is SICK. I really hope this product allows XF to transition into the brick and mortar stores. It really stands out IMO.
Being an XF product we would assume it tasted good, and once again Dave did not disappoint. It had a somewhat mild lemon flavor. Not over powering but enjoyable. And knowing how difficult it is to mask some of the raws used-Great job on the flavoring.
However who gives a sh*t how it tastes. This is hard-core. We just want to know does it work! The answer is a big 100% YES! As Elliptical Envy can attest in my blackberry instant messages to him, I was raving about the product after 1 workout!
Chest, Shoulders, and Arms was on the schedule for the day. Drank my serving of Vengeance and off to the gym. About 10-15 minutes into the workout the effects of the product fully registered with me. A glance in the mirror showed a pronounce fullness to the muscles. The roundness and vascularity were readily apparent. Which given my high bf% was remarkable.. I usually hit about 8-10 sets per major body part, but with energy being high and feeling the way I did during the workout, I ended up doing 14 for chest alone.
In the past I have used Super Pump 250 and DS No Limits and responded decently to both products???..but nothing like this.
As a competitive bodybuilder I was always looking for an edge towards show time. I have used glycerin in the past and had some of the most intense pumps one could imagine. Vengeance took that feeling to another level. Plus with all the other goodies in the product..............Well I am already ordering another container so I can make this an 8 week log!
Hope you all follow along!

After a few off days due to family and work commitments, it is back to the gym for some intense weekend training. Friday night I was dragging when I got home from work, but probably had one of the best workouts I had in quite some time. Got a much greater boost of energy from my serving of Vengeance than previously. I was amped to go and the workout reflected that. After 12 sets of back, I still had energy to burn so ended up deadlifting and shrugging for good measure
As I mentioned previously-The pumps on this product have been better than ANYTHING I have ever experienced from a product. It gives a new meaning to getting your SWOLE on.
Within just a couple warm up sets my skin is tightening and the muscules are VISIBLE fully and rounder. Over the next week or so I am going to end up taking some pics to try to document this a little better.
Now I know some might look at "pump products" as being cosmetic. Personally I feel Vengeance is a little different since all the other items that are in the product that end up contributing to performance as well. However one should not under estimate the power of the mind/muscle connection. For example I was doing low pulley rows and during the set happen to catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Seeing how I "looked" during the set, well it certainly motivated me to train harder and push even more during that set.
Over the past months my training has been sporadic however thankfully things have settled down. I recently moved into a new home and the gym is WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE from my house. So I have no execuse for not doing that morning cardio or staying consistent with my training.
I am also using some core compound exercises as "markers" to guage progress during the log. Supported T-Bar row was up 10lbs from the last workout
I will post my training schedule and diet as part of the next update.
BTW Cytofuse with an extra scoop of Lemon Whey makes a great 1-2 combination with Vengeance

Vengeance is no BROcebo
There has been some discussion about some not responding to this product as well as others and the possibility of some "embellishment" by loggers. (I am talking in general and nothing is directed to a specific individual). I have only been using the product a short while but as my posts attest I am sold on this product already and will be contining to use after my initial container is gone. My experience has been that good. However knowing the type of person Dave is, if I truly did not respond, or thought a particular XF product sucked, I would not hesitate to voice that type of constructive feedback.
SO know to the main point in this update. With football practice and school starting for my son, my nights are pretty hectic. Therefore I will be switching my training time to the mornings, just to ensure I stay on track over the coming weeks.
This morning in my rush to get out of the house, I left behind my serving of Vengenace. Rummaging through my car, I found a container of one of the other leading preworkout products that I had not taken out of my car (I just moved). Got to the gym and after some cardio to warm up and consuming my preworkout drink it was time to hit chest & arms.
This was my 3rd chest/arm workout since starting Vengenance and there was a noticeable difference. Energy and focus was OK but not nearly as prevelant as the other two workouts (with Vengenace). However the most noticeable difference was in terms of the "pump" or lack there of. I have always been able to get decent pumps in the gym, (especially within my chest and arms). Those pumps were enhanced TREMENDOUSLY while consuming Vengenance but today, it was just not the same. Sure I was using the same weights/exercise BUT the muscles just did not respond in the same fashion as before.
Take home message: Put the damn shaker bottle of Vengenace in your gym bag and not on the kitchen container from now on
As mentioned before. my training has not been very serious and focused for some time. I had been sticking to full body routines since that is all my schedule would permit. Personally I think that the majority of people are over trained and most people would do far better on full-body than a body part split.
However given that I am looking to return to competing, I thought it was a good time to up the volume. Training schedule will be as such
Day 1-Chest,Arms
Day 2-Back, Shoulder, rear delts
Day 3-off
Day 4-Legs
Day 5-Chest,Arms
etc
I will also be doing cardio 30-40 minutes 4-5 days per week. My cardio has been non-existent over the past two years but it is a necesary evil to get my bodyfat down to an acceptable level

Whatever hater
To be honest I think I wanted to believe people may have embellished some reviews because I didn't want to be the only one not responding (pump wise) to the product. Its kinda lonely being the only one you know . If people are having unbelievable pumps then more power to you guys. I hope everyone is as truthful as you are.
Will be following your log.

My internet connection was down for a couple days-Comcast is back in my good graces now. As I alluded to a few times my training has not been relatively consistent (at least in my terms) over the past months. However it seems that I have turned a corner and have refocused. I threw my hat into the ring for the OBF which is starting in a few weeks. After that intial 12 weeks, (which I will log), I will continue to diet with plans to hit a local NPC show in the late spring/early summer. It has been a few years since I competed so training has been taken to a higher level, some of which can be attributed to Vengeance.
My "pump response has been well documented but over the last couple sessions I have taken more notice of the energy/focus feel that I get. Feel alert but not jittery or over hyped and it is not something you will feel like you "crashed" from.
For some time I have been doing full body workouts. Since I would contend that most people chronicly over train and dont train frequent enough, I am an advocate of them over "body part splits" in most circumstances. However the simple truth is the best training program is the one that you ARE NOT currently on. That is VARIATION is the key to continued progress. Therefore I have adapted a training split based around Layne Norton's Power/Hypertrophy split since I think it has a very balanced approach.
Upper Body Power
Bench Press3 sets of 5 @ 225
Flite Incline Machine Presses 3 sets of 5-Awesome Machine at my gym that really hits upper chest nicely.
Chest Supprted T-Bar Rows 3 sets of 5@ 3 plates
V Handle Pulley Rows- 3 sets of 5 @ 180
Shoulder Press- 3 sets of 5 @ 80lb DB
Shrugs-3 sets of 5@ 275
I have never been one to lift huge amounts of weights. I pretty much characterize myself as deceptively weak, since you would think I could lift alot more looking at me.....but that is not the case. So I tend to focus on Time under Tension and proper form.
This was a tremendous workout. Focus was high and was able to push hard on each set. Got a sense that my training was really coming together and will be pushing it more and more in the next few weeks.
After the session had a Cyofuse shake with an extra serving of XF Lemon Whey. MMMMMMMMM that is good!
Today should have been lower body power but I will have to hit it tomorrow! Work issues

Chuck, can you comment on how long you notice the energy boost/focus from Vengenace?-

I would say 10-15 minutes for it to reach its peak. I have been training first thing in the morning so I usually hang in the car for a bit and drink my serving. After the first couple warm up sets it clearly has kicked in. Also I keep my workout under an hour, so the feeling seems to continue throughout, with just a little leveling off at the end. No abrupt drop or anything. Very smooth.
I have a couple days of workouts to log so I will add them tomorrow but the last couple days have been FANTASTIC in the gym. Hypertrophy days so within the Norton template that means supersets, higher reps, etc. Really took notice of my endurance and recovery during these sessions. I was able to go from set to set without any need for a brief pause to catch my breath or recovery. Clearly a few of the best workout I have had in many months. And things could not be coming together at a better time. Contest dieting starts SATURDAY!

Chuck, your vascularity has always been insane. I remember when you did a log or review of NO Limits and posted some pictures at DA. I am subbed for the rest of your log.

Work issues

How are you liking this split? I followed this split in the past doing:
Day 1. Upper Power
Day 2. Lower Power
Day 3. Low intensity cardio
Day 4. Chest/Back Hypertrophy
Day 5. Legs Hypertrophy
Day 6. Shoulders/Arms Hypertrophy
I found that I started getting joint pain after the 2nd or 3rd week into the program. I don't know if it is just me, but hitting each bodypart 2x a week sometimes bothers me, both with joint pain and recovery time. I may give it another shot but I don't know.
