DAY 6
Rest day today.....
My daughter had TKD belt testing this morning and afterwards I let her pick her place to go eat. She picked Sticky Fingers (a nice rib bbq type place). Anyway.....I went to the 'dark side' and enjoyed several ice cold Cokes along with a plate of Memphis sweet ribs and a double order of fries. Heck yea!!!
I swear that when my body feels like this and I eat a real high carb meal (soda's fris...etc), it feels like I get pumped all over just from eating. I dont know if it is glycogen storage or what.....but I think every once in a while it is a good thing for me. (I dont normally eat simple carbs)
Back to my log:
Last night, I did feel abnormally hot and uncomfortable. Sweaty and clammy. I had a hard time getting to sleep. Too lazy to take my temp though. It was not until I stripped down to all but my undies and was on top of covers, that I fell asleep. I asked my wife if she was hot and she replied 'no' and stayed comfortably under the covers.
Once I got to sleep, I slept like a rock and did not wake up until 10am. So I will still call sleep quality high.
Libido seems to be turning to the low side. Not horrible, but less then average.
My energy levels are stable and normal today.
Mood is higher average today. I just feel so good.
Lastly DOMS are almost non-existent AGAIN....definite pattern developing.

Again, I can relate. The way I've been working out lately would ordinarily have me somewhat incapacitated with DOMS. Instead, I'm having no trouble walking, sitting on the toilet, carrying my kid on my back, etc. Something is different, for sure.
|
Definite patterns developing for me too, especially with the DOMS......I cant wait to step on the scale on Monday! Something tells me I might be up some....I just feel puffier....maybe it is just glycogen storage...but something feels up.

DAY 7
Ok...I cheated and stepped on the scale last night..(I could not help it )....and my suspicions were confirmed.....I definitely gained some weight. Now what that weight is......well I will do calipers tomorrow morning and post the 'official' numbers....but as a hint, it is not much different then what i saw the first time I ran AX.
Just for some comparison, here is a snip from the first run of AX with my body comp numbers. Remember, this is coming off a 10 year layoff so I am not sure how I gained it back so quick...muscle memory....AX....?????
I in NO way expect to repeat these results. (heck, I almost did not believe them myself the first time).
I would be happy with a solid 5lbs gain at the end of the 8 weeks. I have never seen the scale say 205. I would be ecstatic if I ever see 208!!! (obviously this would be if my bf stayed the same or decreased)
I will post my chart later today,

Are you serious about this? I had that happen with Novadex xt and was hoping AX might not have this effect. Having to keep little JC in the barn is just not worth the gains. The GF whole heartedly agrees.

Day 7 update.
Sleep as usual was good. On the libido side, I think it must have just been an off few days. I feel pretty normal today.
Energy level is normal. Mood is very good.
I am awaiting weigh-in in the morning!

Novedex XT killed me, I have not noticed a decline while on AX.

Day 8
Weigh-in Day
OK.....I knew something was up.....but I am not really sure how to interpret the results.
For some background, I dont fluctuate much at all in weight.....maybe at best a pound but almost none if I take it upon waking. If I take it later in the day....eating and other things take into the mix and I can see 2 lbs.
Anyway....I wont keep you guys waiting any longer.
Weight;
9/7/09 199
9/14/09 203
This shows a gain of 4 lbs......BUT on a bigger note, when I did my calipers, my bf showed a decrease as follows:
9/7/09 13.7%
9/14/09 12%
This would be a LBM increase of
9/7/09 171.8
9/14/09 178.6
Or 7 lbs.....
I too find these results hard to believe.....I can only think I possibly made a mistake on my skinfolds the first week. (but I find it hard to think I could be that off)
On the other hand......I know I made some progress as I saw a decrease in several of the measurements so even if a mistake was made....I could not have made them on all the measurements.
So......I am left to know that I am making progress...(heck yea!!)...but will not truly know how much until I have several more weeks of data.
From a subjective point of view....my wife definitely noticed it. I asked her if I look any different and she commented that I look 'pumped' all the time, even though I have not worked out in a few days.
Going up several posts to Post #66 you can see my previous experience with AX and it will be interesting to see if a pattern develops as the weeks go on.
Again.....I do not think I will repeat the results I saw the first time.....BUT....if I can pack some solid mass on.....That would be AWESOME!
Will be doing a full update after tonights workout!!!

Even being carefull to take caliper measurements at the same locations, and trying to remain consistant with the pinch, I still imagine there is around +/- 1% in repeatability.
Also water retention is another variable that can easily throw your weight tracking off. Of course, keeping as little variation in your diet as possible can reduce the amount this varies.

Day 8 UPDATE:
1 Week in
Strength Increases across the board. New PR's
My workout was very good tonight.
Coming off the scale increases that I saw this morning, I saw just as dramatic strength increases today. They were pretty much across the board.
Below is my workout. Strength increases are noted in green. Each increase is a new PR. (not lifetime, but most I have lifted in a decade)
Here is my daily log:
Note the calculated 1RM section. 14lb increase in squat and 13lb increase in SLDL. (Obviously this is only an estimate)
Libido is back to normal
sleep, Mood, endurance, strength, pump, aggression all remain elevated
Waking core temp is elevated about 1deg for the past 2 days. (98.4) Forgot to put it on spreadsheet...will update later
I am looking forward to tomorrow's workout! Hoping for some more new PR's!!!

Thanks very much! Just trying to hold up my end of the bargain
I hope over time, with more data, it becomes even more useful.

I think that might be partially to blame, but I did see decreases in every measurement so I dont think it is all error. I had some un-real results the first time I ran AX so.....who knows?
My goal was to break a scale weight of 205, (while at same bf or less). I have never been that heavy and would be psyched to see 206.

Question: your BW went up 4lbs, but your LBM went up almost 7lbs over the same period. That doesn't seem to jive....

Day 9
Strength Increases and New PR's Again
Here is my update for today.
Below here is my workout. Note that those numbers shaded in GREEN are new PR's.
This weeks workout and breaking of a new PR on bench is significant because I have been stuck at a plateau for over 5 weeks prior to starting this log. I shattered it by 10lbs!
Again, I saw strength increases across the board.
Only difference was in the chins. I am thinking that this might be because I threw in a few sets of rotator cuff external rotation exercises (not logged btw) right before I did chins. This is something I dont normally do, but I probably should. It is VERY light weight but may have contributed to my lack of reps in the chins right after.
F.Y.I. For those that did not catch it the first time, the grey column with blue writing in it saying "+1" or "+2" means I completed the desired reps but still felt like I had that many left in me. That way I can track when I need to add weight.
Here is my daily log.
Some interesting things to note:
Waking body temp is again elevated by almost 1deg.
Libido is back to normal, even slightly higher.
Mood, endurance, pump, and strength are all well above normal
On a HUGE note....DOMS are almost non-existent. I did the same leg workout yesterday that I did on my first day of AX. I was sore in the legs until thurs of last week. Today, after the same workout, actually heavier, I have almost no soreness at all. Definite pattern.
Note: GREEN entries under "Computed 1rm" are also new PR's.
I can only hope this continues!

I'm feeling the same thing. My lack of DOMS has been nothing short of weird, not that I'm complaining.

Glad to hear! Definite change in that dept here.
On the elevated body temp, I was once again very hot last night right before bed. I worked out early (4:00) so I know it was not that. My shirt was soaked so I took my temp and it was 100.5 at 10:00PM. I take my AX at 7 and 7. It might be why I have not seen so much of a rise first thing in the morning.
Seems like I have felt this way for the past 4 nights or so...anyone else?

Day 10 update:
Today was a rest day. I splurged a little and had Chinese food for dinner. Some general tso's with fried rice. Also had an eggroll. Been a 4 months or so since I have eaten any so it was a refreshing change.
Below is my daily chart. Only interesting things to note are change in libido.....(man the dreams I had last night ) well I wont go into that.....I'll just say it has moved to higher then normal.
Everything else still remains constant.
DOMS continue to be almost non-existent, something several other testers are reporting as well.
Again.....body temp really seems to elevate within several hours of taking the AX. I will take temp again tonight around 10:00 and see where it is at. Last night was 100.5

Body temp update:
Took temp at 7:00pm right before I took AX. Temp was 98.1
Just got up go to bed (9:30pm) and temp was 99.8
I have not been doing any activity so I would guess it is the AX raising body temp.
This is not uncomfortable, just feel a little clammy
Will have to see if this continues.

I haven't noticed any change in body temp. since taking AX although I haven't been measuring it. I usually feel a bit warm on work days after my morning workout, but that's typical.

Day 11
Just a quick update: Getting ready for todays workout and I have definitely noticed a correlation between body temp rise and taking AX. It usually peaks about 3-4 hr after taking and I have now measured three consecutive doses where my body temp will rise by about 1.5-2 deg.
It did it again this morning with a body temp of 97.4 and about 4 hrs later it was 99.8. This is sitting inside in the AC doing no physical activity.
One of the reps says that this is temporary and will go away. I will keep an eye out and see what happens. Been sleeping on top of sheets for the past week.
Next topic is very subjective, but I thought I would post it. (please dont bust um on me too bad)
I think people might think I am nuts......but it is almost as if I can feel my body growing. I am walking around with a perma-pump all over my body. I feel like I have to walk 'around' my thighs at each step. I even feel pumped all over right now even though yesterday was a rest day.
All my muscles feel bigger, and fuller. It is really a weird feeling. I might think I am nuts....but again my wife said something last night when we were cuddling in bed. And she is the last person to tell me something just the flatter my ego.
She does not really get into me being in the gym that much. She just wants me to be healthy. She actually does not want me to get any bigger and last night complained about me starting to look like a 'gorilla'. She grabbed my back area and said 'look at this'....'you are too thick'......'I cant even get my arms around you!'.
Now to me this all sounded great .....but I assured her that I was not going to turn into some freak.
Anyway....from reading the other logs, I seem to be one of the only ones experiencing stuff like this. Not sure what it means???
To check to see if this is all in my mind, I cheated and stepped on the scale today real quick and I am up even more weight. I will wait till monday to post, but I am up another 2 lbs this week. Crazy! (didnt check bf)
I almost feared posting this for fear of ridicule!....but I can only say I feel incredible.
Off to workout.

Day 11 POST WORKOUT
OK.....finished my workout for the day.
I dont know what to say other then.....well I will let the results speak for themselves.
New PR on Deadlift. Up 20lbs from last week.
My strength and endurance were awesome. On my leg ext, I added 15lbs and I went with very short rest between sets and I had no problems doing the reps. I have to do something next week because I really can't add more weight on my machine at home. I am already bending it a little. I think I may have to go with very slow reps or something to make it harder.
Awesome workout!

Thanks man! Looking forward to todays workout. It is a fun one where I pretty much blast arms. Hoping to keep making progress.
