What's the furthest you have ever jogged?
I was jogging this morning and wondering how far I could go. What's the furthest you ever jogged?

I'm not much of a runner, so not very far. As a kid, I wanted to see how far I could jog without stopping. I made it 6 miles, and have never beaten that since (but I haven't really tried either since I hate running).

LOL-I can run pretty far when the wife is chasing me because she wants to smack me. Is there a marathon event for that?

9 miles in 77mins is a 8:33 pace and a run, not a jog, to me! . Very nice!
Since quitting smoking (1yr mark is only 2wks away) I really expanded distance this year. I hit my all time best of 10.8 miles non-stop running with my 18yr old son earlier this year....and that was 5 days after hitting 10 miles even. Normal runs me for this year average about 4.5 miles per run.

^^ This.
I'm not sure I care for the terms jog and jogger except when used for only the most casual type of running.
Kcmoto's time was a run. Especially since he gave it his best.
I was slow, at a 10-12 min. mi., but I was a runner. The longest I ever ran was 26.2 miles. Well, there was some walking in there. It was my first marathon, after all.

Like, on a treadmill? Or like out in the city?
On a treadmill 26 miles was my furthest.
In the city probably 6~7 miles (was much tougher than running 26 in the gym...lmfao my city is HOT in the summer gets past 110, and the air is horrible, like 3rd worst air quality in the nation or something horrible like that).
9 miles in 77 minutes is pretty fast especially for a guy your size, congrats!
EDIT: 10 times more impressive considering your age.
Way to be fit in your late 40's!

In my mid 50s and mid 40s, I used to average 10 miles a day for three days during the week and then alternate 10 and 20 milers on Sundays. This kept me in decent maratihon and half-marathon shape but also kept me from getting over 175 lbs in weight. Only when I gave up distance running and concentrated on the iron world was I finally able to get up to my current 216 and the accompanying strength levels.

A couple of years ago I was trainoing for a marathon. It was very hard work becuase i have never really run before.
I did the Hal Higdon couch to 5k to start and just went from there.
I worked myself up to a 1/2 marathon, which is 13.1 miles. It took me about 1 year of 3 times per week to get to this point.
I wanted to push it to the full 26.2 so i started adding mile to my 13.1.
It really opens your eyes doing this sort of thing, which I am sure that you understand now. Especially if you are lifting at the same time. it gives you a sense of priority and lets you understand what eating, sleep, and training is all about.
You should be commended for what you have done, that is a long way and a great distance, good going.

11.2 miles about 3 weeks ago just to see how far my body could go before it hit the wall. Did it in 2:04. I enjoyed it and will definitely do it again, if not longer.

We had some friends over last night for dinner and one of the guys was a runner and I was talking to him about a thread Guff had started about shoes (this is why I love bb.com so much..because of all the info and threads) anyway he said he was going to jog 10 mi in the morning and wanted to know if I wanted to go...I said sure but I usually only run 3..No prob...I could turn around whenever I wanted...well this morning we started and I really couldn't believe it....he kept telling me every so often how far we had gone in case i wanted to turn back. He had a GPS watch. At 6 miles he didnt tell me anymore. I was a cool morning in the 60's. I'm still on a high from it. Minotaur anybody that runs in a marathon has my respect!!

Thanks. It was my one and only marathon, back in 1998, the Marine Corps Marathon. I wasn't a Marine; it's open to the public and a lot of fun. One of my best memories.

I felt very different about 9 miles into it. I noticed that when I changed the music on my MP3 player, I couldn't get my legs to pick up the pace to keep with the music.
I am pretty sure that with the right training over the next year I can do a marathon by next summer.

As a teenager 11 miles, as an adult 3.1 miles. And I agree with the others that 8+ minute miles and the term "jog" don't go together.

Oh, I've hit the wall many times, lol, but when I did the 10.8 it just happened to be the end of a 3rd lap around a lake. It was a great day. I could have kept going, but didn't plan or feel like I could have made another 3.6 lap, so I stopped. But after that week of running, I was/am confident I could run a HM (13.1). Time might suck, but I can do it. And yes, the feeling after a run like that can hardly be conveyed to someone who does not run. It's an awesome combination of mental integrity, determination, self reliance and control. And if you want to know more about running shoes, check out the links in this post/thread, and feel free to post there whenever you want; http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=115766121

Furthest I've run is 20kms(12.4miles?) a couple of times.Fastest time has been 1hour 44 mins.Thinking of trying a half marathon if I can find one close enough to attend. Was injured most of summer and just got back to running pain free the last couple of weeks.

You ran 26 miles on a treadmill? That almost seems impossible to me. I limit myself to 3 miles on a treadmill out of boredom.
As for my longest run.........Mine is 10 miles, which was done at the Philadelphia Broad Street run earlier this year. I generally run 3-4 times a week from 2-6 miles and occasionally hit 10 every now and again. Due to my wife being due in November, I am unable to attempt the Philly marathon this year, so that will be my big goal for next year. (Unless I get accepted to the New York Marathon).
And by the way, 8:33, 9 mile pace is very nice.

Last deployment we used to do a team 7 mile run on Thursdays. I am sure once I get back in October I will start the tradition with my new team. We do it at a decent pace like 9-10 min a mile. Maybe a little slower at first.
