If we evolved from monkeys, why don't we have half monkey-half human people?

We didn't evolve from monkeys.
On the individual:
His responses grow intelligent, or gain meaning, simply because he lives and acts in a medium of accepted meanings and values. Through social intercourse, through sharing in the activities embodying beliefs, he gradually acquires a mind of his own. The conception of mind as a purely isolated possession of the self is at the very antipodes of the truth.
- John Dewey
All are lunatics, but he who can analyze his delusion is called a philosopher.

He will probably say why do we not have people half X and half human then. X=whatever the common ancestor was we did evolve from.

Neither you, nor your friend understand the first thing about evolution.
Before you try to defend it, you might want to read up on the basics: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/li...faq/cat01.html
If you could find a "half human, half X" you would literrally disprove the theory of evolution.

certain species have a need to adapt, if half of that species doesnt share the environmental need to adapt (geographical location, living environment), they wont. simple.

For the lazy ones (quoting from the link given by Jelly)
10. How do organisms evolve?
Individual organisms don't evolve. Populations evolve. Because individuals in a population vary, some in the population are better able to survive and reproduce given a particular set of environmental conditions. These individuals generally survive and produce more offspring, thus passing their advantageous traits on to the next generation. Over time, the population changes.Go Canucks Go!

If humans evolved from slime why aren't there half slime-half humans walking around?
If all life on earth evolved from single celled organisms, why aren't there half single celled organism-half all life on earths walking around?★cVc★
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.

We didn't evolve from monkeys. We evolved from a common ancestor with some weird proto-ape creature. So the half human, half proto-ape creature that your friend is looking for is..... wait for it...... an ape.

we evolved from apes or an ape-like ancestor or somethin like that. Not a monkey as we understand it today.
Anyways, even without getting into that, assuming we did come from monkeys, the reason would be that we already would have become so differentiated, genetically, that we no longer were the same species (the process known as speciation) and could no longer interbreed.
