Mods please don't delete it I am not a troll but just curious. Since male body produces testosterone and estrogen can masterbating every other night slow down the fat loss? Can the estrogen increase and make my body hold on to the fat? Also, can it increase cortisol? Thanks.

^^ this.
yea. i read about this late last year some time. if you're concerned about the affects of masterbation on testosterone &/or estrogen, then you're taking bodybuilding too far.
who the hell would give up masterbating for a slight advantage?! o__O
...actually, many on this site would. nevermind. =P

Sperm has like, 5-7 calories per average male ejaculation. And most of it is sugar.
I dunno, I bet quite a few people on this site use bodybuilding to help pick up chicks. :P
Anyway, OP, I've always heard that masturbation on off days can help with recovery. I'm not positive though.Judging from the covers of countless women's magazines, the two topics most interesting to women are: (1) Why men are all disgusting pigs, and (2) How to attract men.
I always rep back

Definitely won't make a difference when it comes to fat loss . . .
HOWEVER, it is well known that boxers will go months without "relieving" themselves before a big fight. The theory is that it keeps testosterone levels high, which helps increase the intensity of their workouts, and their ability to fight.
At 188, 5'5, I doubt masturbation is slowing your progress. Get the basics down, save all the tricks until you're almost done and need to clear plateaus and hurdles.

Good answer... The boxer anecdote is accurate, but is probably as much placebo as anything. There are several hormone levels that change after ejaculation, but our bodies are pretty efficient are balancing them back out.
Sexual intercourse would play a larger role in repairing muscle than masturbating based on duration and intensity (in most normal cases) and there's some evidence that it might restrict muscle development on a very very small scale and it's not proven.
If in fact that the minor, brief hormonal changes actually did hinder fat loss on even the smallest of scales, the calories burned would completely negate it.
Burp that worm silly, big guy...

I'd have to agree, even if it did cause a dip in test levels I can't imagine it would be anything but a miniscule difference. On a side note, I never have sex (yes that's right, there are actually women that do those things you watch on the computer) for 5-10 hours before working out. It's nothing to do with hormone levels, just a motivation thing. I find being 'excited' makes you want to work harder. Whereas you are more lethargic after sex. Interestingly there's a manswers episode (Spike TV anyone?) that discusses this idea.... they seem to come to a different conclusion but I think in the short term it still does have some effect: watch for yourself... maybe this might answer some of your questions. It won't let me post links because I don't have a 30 count but just go to youtube and search Manswers sex before the big game.

On the show sports science (like mythbusters kinda but about sports science), they did a segment about sex before playing football or doing something athletic. The myth was basically that if you had sex it'd hinder your performance. They showed it wasn't true and they even said that after sex, your testosterone will rise a bit. After that, I always jerk off before going and lifting.
