How do you perfor a set?! I mean warm up a little or a lot...

Ok, I know this is a beginners question but I have been wondering what a personal trainer would reccomend. How exactly do you correctly do a 3 set workout? I mean what kind of warmup should I do... say for preacher curl do 30 pounds 10 times then 40lbs and then do 3 sets of 60+? or just warm up with the bar and jump straight to 60 or...? When I was a beginner I included the warm up in my sets, was I correct? I'm not such a noob at working out, just now I'm getting in to the technical issues. Thanks for any help guys

Usually you'd start with a complex exercise first, warm up on it, then later when you did other exercises using the same muscles (like a preacher curl) you wouldn't need to warm up specifically for it.

It's pretty common to work the biceps along with the back, so someone following this type of split would probably do deadlifts first. Warming up varies from person to person, and I'm no expert... but I'd do 5 minutes or so of light cardio first. Then a set of 10 with the empty bar. Then let's say I was deadlifting 200 that day. I'd probably do around 10 reps with 100 lbs, maybe 8 reps with 150 lbs, 5 reps with 175 lbs, 3 reps with 190 lbs. I'd stretch between the warm up sets. Then move to work sets. Then move to the next excercise. etc.

Again, I'm no expert. I'm sure if you google or search the forum you can find more warm-up suggestions.lll
