Branch Warren vs. Dennis Wolf

In LT1Squirrel's thread, he seemed to think it was a general consensus that Vic, Wolf, Kai, Dex, Phil and Jay would be a lock for top 6.

I, on the other hand, Think Branch beats out Wolf and should be considered one of the top 6 guys going in.

I decided to make a picture thread comparing the two. I'm using Branch's 2009 ASC photos and Wolf's 2007 Olympia photos, since most will agree that was his best package.











The pics of Branch are kind of at a weird angle, but whatever.

I don't think Branch blows him out of the water. He even loses the FDB, but I think Branch has the better overall package.

Also, I couldn't find pic of Dennis in the side or back relaxed poses, which are some of Branch's strongest poses.

I know branch in the last pic is closer up but damn he dwarfs dennis in the leg department. holy ham drop. You didnt post a rear last spread comparison. Wolf owns branch in that pose. I think if branch brings this package or a more improved one he could crack the top 6.

I know I didn't. They don't have one of Branch straight on from the ASC. I don't want to go to multiple websites to get the pics, because some places have better pics than others and I would be accused of being biased. I think Wolf wins RLS in the upper body, but I don't know about the whole pose, because of Branch's ridiculous hams.

Dennis's legs have exploded. The last picture I saw of him his legs were friggin massive. Quad sweep is ridiculous.

Branch looked soooo good at the Arnold. His physique is definitely not pretty though like Wolf's, it is freaky. We will see what the judges are going for this year

Branch's quads are massive. I don't like his back development but I have to admit he looks damn good in those pix. Wolf had soft glutes while Branch's were striated and Branch's hams were much better too. This olympia is going to be sick.

Branch's RDB looks so weird, really "messy" if i could describe it that way... not much clear cut separation like Wolf has...

Really? I hardly think Wolf is a contender for the win. Dex, Vic, Jay and Heath Have all beaten him and will, I think, do so again....

And I really don't see Kai losing to him this year.

So to me, that leaves Branch and Wolf fighting it out for 6th.

I don't think many people realize how thick Branch is until they see a close up picture of him or meet him in person. The guy is literally a flesh tank walking. From those pictures alone I don't see any reason why Branch would have trouble taking out Wolf. However, this year we are supposed to see a thicker Wolf, so we'll have to wait and see.

Wolf is not a first place contender. He is a 4th to 6th place contender.

Your 1st to 3rd place contenders are: Dex, Phil, Jay, Vic, Kai

Branch, Samuel, Freeman, Wolf, Moe, ect ect are 4th to 8th contenders

Wolf definitely has a smaller waist (which I prefer) and has a much better BDB but with legs like Branch you can't help but not notice. Everything from the waist down is great for Branch. In whatever order they place, they'll probably be next to each other

I think wolf overall looks better front and back, but Branch's Legs win from all angles and his freakiness/conditioning put him over the top for me.

Branch can hang in there with most from the side for sure. Almost unbeatable legs with a great chest. Arms a lacking a bit though.

I feel Wolf beats Branch for sure in the FLS, FDB, MM, BDB and RLS. Branch has side poses but side tri is closer than side chest. I'd give Ab&thigh to branch too. I think he's great in that pose.

Branch is always hard to beat because he's always in shape and has tons of muscle. Wolf though has better structure and just stands out more on stage.

I agree about the better structure, but I think they stand out equally. Just in different ways.

It's like comparing J.Stubbs with L.priest (with tored bi).. Too far away in a height department IMHO. And that Branch dude looks weird with all that mass on a tiny frame (while L.priest looks far better btw, even being short. That means - Branch has no chances in "O". I'd say - 11-12).

So where's the most up to date pics of wolf? I think he's made really good progress from the 07 Olympia so its not really a good comparison.

When Branch brings his A game tho - I'm all for him, I think he looks great and different from all other competitors in the top 6 - which will prob go against him of course, but he's still good.

If Branch hasn't improved a lot from the arnold, and wolf has thickened up, and nails his conditioning like in 07, wolf beats him. If wold hasn't thickened up as much, or comes in like last year, Branch SHOULD win, but who knows with the politics of judging.

And those who think Dennis doesn't have a shot at the win are either ignorant or die hard heath fans. If Dennis brings a thicker frame to the stage, nails his conditioning, theres no reason he cant win. If he has brought up his weaknesses, he will dwarf everyone else.

I'm not saying that cause I want or think he will win. I'm just saying its stupid to count him out. Dennis missed his mark last year. Same thing could happen to any of the other competitors this year.

Branch has a physique that is so unlike any of the other competitors, it's always a wonder how he will place in any show. Could be 2nd or 3rd. Could be 8th or 9th. Depends on the show, the other guys and the judges.
