Can I get big by doing ONLY bodyweight exercises?

I wanna know can I get big by doing ONLY bodyweight exercises?
Say like push-ups for chest, pull ups for lats and triceps, chin ups for bicep and sit-ups for abs and so on...
    Will I gain any mass?

I can't see you getting much bigger..because big weight=big muscle, but you will make improvements. Arnold recomends that beginners start like this, but only for a few months. You should try to find some weights bro. Peace

wow once again another one of these threads. to answer your question, you will not reach society's description of "big" with only bodyweight excercises. i dont know what you consider big, but chances are you will be disappointed unless you can use more weight for resistance.

Of course you'll grow, buy you won't be massive. You will definately get big off of dips and pullups, as long as you eat like crazy. If you're taking in 5000 calories a day, you'll get somewhere.

    Cool

Unless you weigh 400 lbs and have 11 inch arms

That'd be enough for dips and pullups

no there is no way to get huge by just doing body weight exercises, you might be able to get bigger but it would take so much longer than if you just lifted weights

I remember watching this show on VH1 called Hardbodies. It showed singers working out. The singer Usher was working with some know it all personal trainer and he said people don't get big by lifting weights, they get big by lifting their bodyweight. One of the funniest things I've ever seen. We all know how big Usher is LOL.

There are exceptions to every rule. And if you don't think that Herschel Walker was a genetic freak, well... you're in for a bit of a suprise.

In general you cant get that big from just bodyweight excercises. However you can get a pretty decent build from pullups, hand stand pushups and sprinting.

add dips and a healthy diet and you will get dense muscle rather than muscle mass.

How do you know you could get a good build from that? Do you know someone who does that routine, or are you just assuming? Because I might be interested in giving that workout a try.

You can get decent abs from crunches, an average chest from pushups, an above-average back from pullups.

but for bruce lee, you need a nice diet and cardio. that guy is thin and defined. a little muscular looking but you need to work your diet and cardio first. and to get like him, id say body weight is okay but with bodyweight it may be harder to isolate certain exercises than if you had some free weights.

    Bodyweight Workouts

I know I'm digging up an extremely old thread, but I think it needs to happen. I'd be interested to see if there's been progress for anyone else in the area of bodyweight exercises as well. I lifted for 7 years with weights and gained some mass, but it never took off like it did for me with bodyweight exercises. I am no way affiliated or marketing any products, but I've done You are Your Own Gym by Mark Lauren for about 5 months now (I've finished the first and second level difficulties) and I've seen some really good results. Anyone else been getting good results recently with bodyweight exercises?

P.S.- I'm 23, eat about 4,000 calories of a decent diet daily, and use protein, creatine, and pre-workouts.

Yep I'm similar to you in some ways. I used to be 60kgs and no muscle at all, then I started hitting the weights hard and eating like crazy... i put on a lot, and got up to 75kgs but a lot of that was fat (which i saw by what comes next). Then I started doing a fasting diet (renegade) and switched to bodyweight workouts only, I lost a lot of that, down to 67kgs but have a lot of definition now, my muscles have grown but I'm super low bodyfat. Although I'm not at my ideal weight (im 180 kgs so 72-75 would be nice) I'm much stronger than ever before and looking good.
