Crazy SIMPLE homemade thick grips

I posted alooong time back, about a year, on how to make some homemade "tyler grips" They worked ok. This is far simpler.

I put a full post up on my site - http://synergy-athletics.com/?p=2115

but here is the jest of it.

Take a bar bad - 10-15$ based on where you get it, I actually think they have them at walmart.

Cut it in half.

Just snap it over your DB handles or your pull up bar...Done.

Yes, they are a little softer than tyler grips, but crazy simple and easy to make. Literally just need a pair of scissors or a knife...

I actually bet you could use a pool noodle for the same concept....Once you get a good hand dent in them, they should harden up...

Interesting... I wonder how pipe foam insulation would work. they come pre-slotted so they would slide right over a bar. they are dirt cheap so once they get too worn down it's an easy replacement. pool noodles might have too much foam...

Yes, I know someone who has used these and they work just fine.

Thanks 4MeandThem!

I've tried the pipe insolation and it works fine, good suggestion. Its just a little soft and thin for my liking. I bet you could double up on it after the first one crushes down and would work fine.

The other old school move is just wrap a towel around the bar (hand towel or wash cloth).

I've seen guys use them. Great option. Effective and cheap.
