Anyone have any idea what these Haiti deployments are like? Are we just passing out MREs and ****?
I am a 21B so I am not sure why I am on this list to go.
Thanks.

21E and 21 C build stuff, I just do demo. Dont really see the need in blowing **** up when everything is already demolished.

Yeah, haven't you heard....the Army will train you for something and then just use you as a "gopher". I was trained as a 94F (35F at the time) which is fixing small electronic things like night vision goggles and chemical agent detectors. My AIT was 6 months long and that was one of the shorter ones at Fort Gordon.
I didn't do my job once in the actual regular Army. I spent some time in a supply shop in an aviation unit (of all places) re-arranging tiny Apache screws and washers. Then in a company that was mechanics where they had no idea what to do with me so I was just doing bitch work and "hey you" assignments.
The closest I came to doing my job in a 3rd shop servicing things was in a support company in a signal brigade but even then they didn't service their own stuff they sent it to a brigade support unit.
There's a strong chance you won't get to do your actual job very much but such is the Army. It was fun none the less at times.

You know, now that you say that, I can totally see that. They spend all this money training you and just use you as a glorified janitor/manual laborer. I've been on so many details and special work assignments it's not even funny. Not that hard work ever killed anyone HaHa
The biggest thing that is affecting people is when the Army started transitioning into "self-sufficient" style combat brigades. They are trying to make these brigades with a lot of different MOS's in them so they can support themselves and not have to deploy whole divisions and what not....The problem right now is not all these brigades know what to do with all these specialty MOS's and they don't even have the equipment necessary for them to do their job so you have a bunch of extra hands with no jobs to do.
