I was born without my left pectoral muscles. Oddly enough, when my mother asked if it would affect me in any way, the doctor said "Nah, he prolly won't be a body builder though." Before anyone asks how it affects my lifting, my max bench ever was 410 one rep max [2 years ago.] Currently I sit at 400 lbs. as of last week. It does not effect my bench press, shoulder workouts, or anything at all. I can rock out a few hundred pushups with no problem. I did notice severe pain several years back when performing some reps of 275 on incline, so I usually just rep 225 if I ever do that. I do not do any sort of chest workout besides bench press. No fly's, no cable's, no decline.
My question is, is there anyone else that is missing a pec [aside from if you tore it?] My only concern is as I push for 450 lbs bench and beyond, that the ligaments in my left shoulder could be over worked. I never feel any pain, aside from that time several years ago. I stretch very well before all workouts, and am stronger than about 90-95% of the people I meet. Do any older bodybuilders/lifters have any experience with friends or know someone else who was missing the muscle [right or left side.] I was told that a former NFL wide receiver was missing the right side of his pectoral muscles, but I cannot find any information on it. It doesn't bother me at all, except for the possibility of straining the ligaments as I push for a heavier bench. Thanks for any info brahs.

My father has the same thing on his right side. He was never much of an exerciser though so I cannot say how it may/may-not have affected him in that regard but his strength never seemed one-sided in the gardening/outside-work we used to do.

I'm asking about anyone having experience with this because of the possibility of straining the delt's, tri's, and ligaments in the shoulder and elbow. Never had a problem with it in my life but was curious.
